Hi all, I recently purchased a Sportsman with nylon scales. I was wondering what your thoughts were on this particular model?

It was my first SAK.

Quite a decent package in a small SAK.
Great for urban carry but would've loved a pair of scissors in it.

+3.  I would absolutely love it if Vic would bring back the entire 84mm lineup as they carry like a dream!

One of my favourites. I prefer the nail file to another blade. More than enough for desk duty.

What you have is a Sportsman II.  The nylon scales aren't as pretty as the Cellidor, but they are durable and don't scratch as easily.  I wish Victorinox offered more models with the nail file instead of the small blade.

Since I started collecting SAKs I've really become a fan of the 84mm size.  I've got an old Salesman with square Phillips in my pocket as I type this.

A lot of like minded thinking on this topic.  I too would like to see the 84mm line expanded again with scissors and more models (in 91mm too) with the nail file in place of the small knife blade.

The "Sportsman" is a bit of a misnomer. I can't think of a single sport that requires any of these tools...

I can only echo the above, I fell in love with it instantly after I got one. I love the 84 mm size, love the nail file - which can double as a 2 dimensional Phillips very effectively - in place of the redundant small blade and with scissors it would be the perfect urban carry. (These are the same reasons why I also love the Wenger Traveler - although some of the tools on it are less than perfect in my eyes, but at least they're there.)

Really?! I can see myself, sitting in the bench at a football match (yes, the correct name is football, not soccer!), opening a bottle of wine, cutting some cheese, taking care of my nails as I wait for the coach to send me in.

Ah, Europe...
