If anyone is able to design a 3d print file for the ferro rod whistle for the signal so you could just glue in a new ferro rod that would be amazing and I would PayPal over some money.

I don't care about whistle.  If there was a way to fill the hollow container like with some fish hook that would be the best.

Let's hope someone has the software. This WOULD be a cool thing to get on Shapeways (or wherever)

You can get suitable software free of charge.  I have both Sketchup and Fusion 360 and either would work, although Fusion 360 is both better and requires more skill from the user.

I actually don't have a Signal (nor am I much of a designer ) so I don't think I am much of a choice for this project, but I'm sure someone here will be.

I don't have a Signal or 3D printer, so I am not qualified for this at all  :D I would still love to see this idea come to fruition though :like: :like:

Does anyone know what type of file it needs to be saved as?

I'm working with a 3d printing and design firm at work, to make a casting dye for an impeller. They can scan a thing, and possibly design it. Good work so far. They work on all kinds of projects. They're called 3D Systems, call and ask for Cyle Caplinger.

I have been thinking about getting a Signal. what i was thinking is something along this line but instead, trying to replace the whistle assembly with something that could fit a custom screwdriver bit extender or some extra bits.
i hear that some public libraries have 3d printers for public use... hmm.

I don't have a Signal, so no can do. But don't they sell replacement parts? (Ok, I'm confused - again :D)
