Nitecore TIP
on: March 26, 2018, 03:50:54 PM
Well I bought a TIP about a month ago as I had been using the Tube since last June and they are great little lights.

I went to charge it this morning as I’d been using it at the weekend and this happened.

Now I’ve emailed Nitecore but I suspect as they sell the clips on the website they will treat it as a consumable item.

I have several Tip' but have never even seen this clip before.

Do they also have the lockout that they did in the beginning?

No lockout, I think they revised the TIP last year.

Oh and I got a reply and yes it's a consumable item so I've just bought 3 (just in case), the pain is although they are only £1.50 they charge £3 for for postage  :twak:

the clip has to be slid off, did you try to spread it over the sides? kinda looks like it snapped that way, when you get new one slide it on from either end.

Yeah, both "wings" simultaneously seem strange. Maybe it was faulty (in which case they should replace it).

I was sliding it back to expose the usb port and one of the wings broke off then the second went quickly after

So I went to look at mine, seemed like it was too loose, it's cracked on the wing , hasn't broke off yet but it's pretty useless. I was only using this one on a neck lanyard, but I also slid it down to expose micro port to charge about a week ago, and left it in that position without removing clip from light, maybe thats where we went wrong, but I would think it's probably just cheap plastic poorly made.

Ok, that's it! No more Tips with Clips! Just the plain clipless version...

Same here,it looks like the clip really makes the light bigger and clunky compared to no clip?

I use the Lockout every minute mine is in pocket but it still turns on every single day anyway.
Too much stuff in pocket.
Twisty lights rarely do that to me.

The oneI have is on a keychain, so the clip was removed as soon as I got it

had my keys in sweatshirt pocket:TIP cri model, vic classic, car key fob and house key, found tip was turned on 3 times today. removal of lockout was not a great idea, clip broke like I mentioned, no point in getting another if they are gonna snap so easily. recommend the previous version like the winter edition that has lockout mode, for now putting trusty Olight I3 eos back on keychain.

I had some small twisty open up completelly and spill the batteries on my pocket...

I have too but to me I would still prefer this as the batteries still probably work when reinstalled too.
I finally took the Tip off the keychain as it is just always either dead or on in my pocket anyway.
I have the Ti 4/7 Mini Mkii on the chain now and trust me that one is not going to twist on its own ever!
I can barely twist it when I want to.

I haven't had a twisty go rogue on me like that, but time will tell. The thing that annoyed me about the tip was it was in a sweatshirt pocket, not even a pants pocket, I found it very strange, I imagine it would be much worse in pants. I usually use them around the house on a neck lanyard, but wanted something brighter on my keys.
