Just thought I would share this.

Since 2017, Victorinox has decided to discontinue the production of 111mm slider lock models... (This is just an assumption of mine as the 2017 catalogue no longer shows 111mm slider lock models)...Some of these models are now reintroduced as liner lock variants.

One of the slider lock models to undergo transformation is the Outrider...

On the left is the slider lock model and on the right is

Some changes in the layer orders. Where the blade used to sit in the back layer, it is now moved right next to the openers...

The wood saw profile is now similar to the ones found on the Trekker.

Similar to the Pioneer X, nail nick position has been placed on the reverse side to allow easy access... This is because the scissors sits right next to the blade and nail nick would have been blocked if it were positioned like any other scissors.

The bottle opener now uses the bigger ones like other 111mm liner locks.

Finally, the reamer/awl now does not have the sewing eye... again... similar to all liner lock models...

Hope these info. would be useful to those interested.

Thanks for the comparison.   I've often wondered why they got rid of the sewing eye on the awl for the more recent 111mm models.

I've also wondered if they'll make an OH Outrider without the super-fancy Damascus blade.

So the reversed nailnick for the scissors, introduced on the PX, really were meant for future use on the 111mm line! :tu:

I think the awls on the liner lock models didn’t have the sewing eye since introduction... As to why no sewing eye, your guess is as good as mine...

Excellent comparison! Am I right in thinking the newer one is heavier?

Thanks. I don't have a weighing scale to do precise measures, but I didn't notice or feel any significant weight difference if any...

It's the only reason that made sense.  I build a OH liner lock outrider and it's really a nice set of tools
