I love how the old Juice S2 looks. I've been drooling over them for a while now. Not a fan of the current design.
Good luck with your challenge!  :like:
Same here. Ever since seeing nutnfancy review an orange S2, I was hooked! And it's a small dream come true to own this classic

Unfortunately for Day 2, it's mundane task of opening a coffee sachet with the S2

But I did pass by a construction site next to my office building and took a peep at the deep hole. Notice how toy like that yellow machinery looks like

Thank you awl for dropping by and commenting. Much appreciated!

For Day 3, I discovered something I didn't know about the Juice. But before that a pic while I was driving to work, followed by my first time to use my S2 for food, eating apple.

My favorite apple knife is my Pioneer Solo as I think it's perfect for my use. So I'm a bit hesitant to use the S2 as I see it as a utility knife. How did it fare? It's okay. I felt the blade is too long and thick for deskinning and slicing an apple.

After use, I immediately washed it with water and saw a piece of apple stuck inside a crevice. Times like this made me wish for a SAK toothpick or twizzer. Good thing I actually carry toothpicks in my bag.

It was while taking out the apple piece did I notice that the S2 has skeletonized frame for weight reduction. Wow.

What I like about an alox SAK is that it's almost rust free. So I'm a bit concerned if my S2 will develop some rust spots. Taking a closer look, I think it will happen on the pliers teeth if I'm not conscious. Will check this area regularly.

Challenges like this make one take a hard look at one's tools

That car in front of you has a Juice too, but it's so big he had to attach it to the boot.

For Day 4, another utility tasks where the Juice excel in: slicing papers (delivery invoices) and removing staples!

For Day 5, been a busy day attending a seminar but didn't find a use for my S2.

I wanted to eat an apple before sleeping but I remember the smell of lubricant on my S2's blade so I decided to give it a bath and air dry for the night

Day 1

After completing the 30-day Rebar challenge yesterday, here I am, starting a new one with a Juice.

Mine is an older XE6 (date code 0909), which I bought used about a year ago. Ever since I learned about the Juice line, I liked the design, but was waiting for the right tool to come up at a reasonable price. The right tool meaning the most capable in this case, as I was looking for a pocket toolbox type tool, and the right price, well, it came out around half of a new one (in the US, here they're eye-wateringly expensive new).

Despite it being used, it came in good condition. It had a couple small corrosion spots on the blades but after a good WD40-bath, thorough cleaning and a bit of polishing, they were gone. The other "problem" was the rattling of the aluminum scales on one side, but that was easily remedied with a few drops of superglue applied from the inside, through the skeletonized liner.

The plain edge blade must have been chipped pretty badly at some point, there's the tiniest little dent still on it, but it was sharpened well, although with different grind heights. It doesnt effect the cutting performance, both the PE and the serrated blades are hair-popping sharp. My own small improvments: I sharpened the can opener with my rotary tool and got the awl sharpened on a proper wheel at a sharpener guy.

As the Juice has been backpack-carried as my main EDC multi (in rotation with the Rebar or a Vic Hercules) and when not, it's on my desk and has been used many times, ahead of the challenge I'm pretty sure it will perform well in any everyday situation.

Day 2

On the road today we shared a burger with the wife, we weren't really hungry, but their special sauce is just unmissable. As evident from the photo, the PE blade is razor sharp, even in the moving car and not in the most comfortable position, it was a swift and very clean cut.

Oh, and it's my 200th post. Not thousands, not even a new nut, but still, a nice round number. :)

Yohoo!!! Welcome, Exeter! Excellent start! I shouldve done that as well. Well, I will do that in the coming days :D Congrats on the 200th post!

Same with me, Nix, wish our S2 also has an awl. Especially after experiencing how useful it is in the PX  :tu:

----

For my Day 6, after air drying overnight, I didn't oil my S2 and then used it this morning to eat an apple. I'm now getting used to it as my apple knife and can comfortably slice with its long and thick blade (compared to my Pioneer Solo's).

When I opened the pliers an hour ago to lubricate its teeth, I found out that rust has seeped out :( So I liberally oiled this portion with mineral oil. I wonder what steel an S2 has for its plier heads. Will do some research...

Day 3

It's a very nice and sunny day here, so this being the Juice challenge, after getting home I decided to test the micro flat driver on glasses or sunglasses to be precise. The Juice's smallest flat driver was a hair wider than the slot itself, but I was able to turn the screw with no problem at all. Admittedly it's a pair of cheap shades with bigger and not really precise hardware, but it worked. Usually I would have reached for a Vic's corkscrew micro driver, but the Juice's one is an adequate substitute. (Size comparison of the two drivers included for those how don't happen to own a Juice.)

That's a interesting comparison. I rate the Micra's small screwdriver for glasses screwdriver so they should know the size to work with
