THE BIG REVEAL

The long awaited information regarding the thread called “The Speakeasy”. It is going to be, starting this Saturday evening 07 April 2018, a gathering place for Jazz and Blues fans. Nix (Jack) and I have been streaming Jazz radio on Saturday nights, drinking Knob Creek Bourbon, shooting the breeze, chatting about everything under the sun.

Cigars are welcome, whiskey is acceptable, on the rocks, straight up… with water however you like it. Actually any beverage is understandably welcome. Being In the “Break Room” sub-sub-forum of the Non-Tool sub-forum should dictate the nature of the bantering that will be going on. Although the odd reference to our beloved SAKs will be accepted… hehe!

This Saturday evening we plan to listen to JAZZ-FM 91, a Toronto, Canada Jazz&Blues station. The only one left in Canada. The programme called BLUZ-FM plays on Saturdays from 8PM to Midnight (eastern time zone currently EDT GMT - 4).

Jack and I are hoping to attract as many as possible Jazz and Blues fans, have a chat whilst streaming live, commenting on our favourites, the instruments, the arrangements, anything and everything.

As for the rules, they already exist under the MTO charter…that’s all I am going to say about that. De-railers are welcome, but just be ready to be re-railed… 

Laissez les bon temps rouler !!!!  Full disclosure (City of New Orlean’s official Motto) also the known birth place of Jazz… there we go that should/ought to be our initial debate… IS THAT TRUE OR NOT?

Sooo..... JAZZ FM91 will be the official radio station of this particular Speakeasy? I like it! (Hey, y'all, bookmark this link. )

While many Speakeasies were dirty little hideouts where a person could get some "bathtub gin" or "rotgut whisky", many were a bit more upscale. Some 'joints' had live music and entertainment. Here's the old stage from one old Montana Speakeasy:

Obviously we can't have a live band broadcasting from Marc's place, but we can all have a common, streaming radio station. And in this Speakeasy, the barman keeps the radio set tuned to Jazz FM91.

Marc and I hope that you guys will pull up a chair, tune in, and join us for a little 'bull session' while we appreciate some fine Jazz and Blues.

I hope you'll join us as we listen to some great music, courtesy of Toronto, Canada, and sample a nice cocktail or glass of the good stuff.  :tu:

I'm just thinking out loud here....probably not a good idea....but Speakeasies were known for their 'cocktails'. Often these drinks were a mishmash of various flavors used to disguise the taste of bad 'hooch'. Even so, a number of enduring and popular drinks came out of this era.

What do you say to having a common cocktail for this Saturday evening's broadcast?

I'm thinking, since you and I both like bourbon, perhaps this Saturday's cocktail should be the well-loved Old-Fashioned?

Anybody have a recipe they like?
