Did you ever have an idea and think no that can't work or someone else would have done it by now?  :think: :think:

There follows some poor pictures of a usefull little mod for  British Army Knife

This one is new old stock with the original grease and was made by ABL in 1950


Hold the knife in a vice and open up the marlin spike
Balance a speed square on the spike


Take your file (power file  ) and file the top untill it matches the angle of the square


And do the far side


That's it, job done, after tidying you should have a useable awl   :salute:


See I said it was easy, now go poke holes in things  :cheers:

I might try a slightly steeper angle but the metal is fairly soft  :think:

Sure it's not a Belgian Army Knife?

The ABL marking should stand for Armee Belge/Belgisch Leger and just reffers to "Belgian Army"

The manufacturer's name is usualy stamped below that.

Cool find!

Never even seen a Belgian Army Knife in unused condition.

I've got one from 1950 too, restored it myself.
