BCNZ's Axe.
on: March 26, 2017, 01:50:30 AM
I was given this axe as a bonus for completing a particularly difficult trail construction project a few years ago.  I'm not sure of the brand but it has 'HB' and 'Made in Sweden' stamped on it.  I've split two winters worth of wood with it now (I burn approx one and a half cords a winter) and it's holding up well.  Even the sticker that came on it is still partially visible!
Some pics:

I am not 100% certain but I think that the HB is for Hults Bruks and they are/were one of the the prolific axe makers in Sweden along side of Wetterlings (now part of Gransfor Bruks), Hultafors and of course Gransfor Bruks :tu:

Great pics and a fine looking axe you have there 8) :like: :like:

Nice! It deserves a nice leather sheath or at least a blade cover.

one has to be at least half competent to make a nice leather sheath (or - don't ask how many times I've failed and stabbed myself) ;)

That has never stopped me. After seeing some tutorial videos, I made a few. They seem to be getting better. I say go for it. Star with a few scraps of leather, see what works and what doesn't and don't quit. You'll end up with at least one you'll like.

That pvc pipe sheath looks good.  Great idea Sparky!
I do have a sheath for the Hults Bruk.  It came on an old axe I purchased for trail building years ago, seems to fit the HB well although the fastener is broken so I just wrap some bungee cord to keep it closed;.
