If the subject line didn't give it away, this intro will- this month's Donation Draw Prize is the original Gerber Multiplier, the multitool that ushered in the sliding head revolution which spawned not only other Gerber models like the MP600, MP400, Flik, Freehand and Diesel, but also tools from other manufacturers like Paul Chen's MultiTasker and Leatherman's One Hand Tool!

This tool was directly responsible for the MP600 which has the honor of being the plier based multitool most issued to military organizations around the world, and the plier based multitool that has more variants than any other, and we are giving it away!  This is a must-have for any collector, and this particular one comes with it's original sheath and is in much better shape than a 20+ year old tool should be expected to be in.

As usual, donate at least $10 to the Forum operational Fund, either with the Donation Button on the right, the DONATIONS tab at the top or by following THIS LINK to make your donation.  Each $10 donation you make gets you one chance to win this beautiful classic.

This beauty is only going to be given away if we hit our monthly goal of $275, and if we don't then we may give it away or you may be able to buy it next month in The Multitool.org Store, I don't know, I haven't decided yet.  But I doubt that will be an issue, because, as I said, this is one tool you NEED to have in your collection.  It is arguably one of the most influential multitools in the history of multitools, and it could be yours!

If we hit the goal prior to midnight on April 15th I will do an Early Bird Draw, which, if you win, won't affect your chances of also winning the big draw of the amazing and beautiful Multiplier!

Who doesn't want to enjoy the challenge of using a tool that threatens to bit you every time you use it?  Heck, we even have a merit badge for that, and you know merit badges are totally worth it, right?   :pok:

What are you waiting for?  Get donating, because you don't want anyone else beating you to this one!

No idea off the top of my head.  I'll have to see if I have an adaptor and let you know.

Still, for $10 it's worth the risk, isn't it? :-)

Yes, you put the adapter on the Phillips driver.  Here's my Mr. Pinchy with the adapter in place.

I remember colleagues being all over it in the 90s I think? While I did prefer the more simple Leatherman's.

Early 90's is correct?

Cool MT history  :tu:

Cool MT history  :tu:

The MP600 debuted in 1998, and this is the progenitor to the MP600.  I believe the Multiplier would have been replaced by the MP600 which introduced the SAF-T-LOKS, so that would place this guy somewhere between 1991 (the year the Multiplier was introduced) and 1998.  Unfortunately I am not sure exactly when this one was produced, although it is safe to assume that it isn't that early a model since it doesn't say PAT PENDING on it.

Even so, if it was one of the final tools produced, it is still every bit of 20 years old!

Thanks Grant,

that fits to my 1995 time in El Paso where I've got a Supertool, and my friend a Gerber.
I think it was exactly this one  :tu:

To me they are the PST of the gerber range, a nice solid early model like the PST is, except with a nice pinch point on it to nip your hand when using the pliers.  Thankfully I haven't done that with either of mine....yet
