There is a list enclosed with each part, just cross out your name and send it to the next guy on the list.  If there is no next guy on the list, then PM me and I'll let you know who to send it to (meaning whether extra people added onto the end of the list, or if you're the last and you need to send it back to me).

I think that most of the guys on the Not US list  :D live in different countries and the ones that live closest would probably save on shipping if all the ones in each country got a look see before it left there respective country

Not prying just saying ::) :)

Well, if you WERE prying, you could use the Crony to do it! haha lame joke, but i couldnt resit.

You do make a good point, and I had thought about grouping geographically so everyone can save a little on shipping.  So, if you guys want to change up the order a bit to save some money, just contact the guys you will be bumping down the queue and make sure theyre ok with it.

Just to confuse the issue my ancestry is English and Welsh.  Hence the not very Scottish name.  But last time I checked Scotland is still part of the UK. ;)

Until you are:

a) bored of playing with it.
b) get bored of me asking where it is ;)

I wouldn't want to post anything until the Christmas postal surge has died down.

Yea, I think it's fair for a couple days or so, maybe a little longer for you due to the Christmas crazyness going on through all the shipments. Hope you enjoy it Benner, let me and us all know what you think!!!

The Crony has been sent off today to it's next recipient - Neil.

Dough, I have tinkered with the order (hope you don't mind) so that it goes throughout England and then onto Scotland and then Finland.  I forgot to put Dave on there though, so maybe Neil or Nick could send it on to him?

Thoughts on the Crony will be posted soon.  :tu:

Hi Dough,

After several days to fiddle with and think about the Crony, I offer these thoughts,

1.  I think the magnifying glass idea should be dropped.  The reasons for this are I'd worry that a glass magnifer would break and that a plastic one would scratch from pocket carry.  Additionally, if someone were to hammer the side of the Crony to loosen a reluctant nut or bolt, the magnifier could pop out.

2.  I'd recommend moving the hex driver to where the magnifer hole is located and placing a hole of roughly 3/10's of an inch diameter where the hex driver currently is.  This would serve for attaching a lanyard.

3.  The wire gages seem like a feature with limited value. I am not sure how you plan to form these notches but having spent 41 years in the valve manufacturing business, these seem like a continuous source of quality problems.  I also see this surface being hammered on to loosen nuts or bolts.  That will ruin the gaging feature.

4.  I put the bottle opener up against several different styles of bottle caps.  I think the hook needs to be further away fromm where it is now or some caps may be too tall for it to get a good purchase.

All in all, I very much like the MLCT Crony and, depending up price, anticipate having a few of these living in different bags.  Good luck with finishing this project.

Best regards - Joe

It's funny, because my opinion pretty much differs from Joe's in every way.  :D

I really like the idea of the magnifying glass and really hope it is kept in the final design.  I see it as being a huge part that no other tool of this type has and can see it being the part it is recognised by.  "You know that Crony tool?" "What, that tool with the magnifyer in?:D  I feel that the tool is thick enough (please keep it this way  :tu:) that the lens could be quite well protected by the rest of the tool.  I would like to see the lens being larger though (which I am sure is the plan) and maybe the hex driver could be moved across slightly so this could be achieved.

I feel the wire guage is a fantastic idea  :).  Although this is a feature I would probably never use, I like the way how you have managed to gain a feature with it also acting as jimping for when using the wrench.  I think it it certainly worth keeping hold of as I regard it as being something for nothing.

The bottle opener worked perfectly well for me (maybe the bottles I tried differed from Joe's) and I see no real need to change the design.

With regards to the rest of the tool, the prybar worked as it should and the wrench was functional as well.  One thing I may change (and I have mentioned this to Dough already) is the length of the flat phillips driver.  This I feel could be shortened without any loss of function (accept a shorter ruler) and would make it more pocketable.  Dough may chime in here with a bit more reasoning of why to keep it this length though.

Overall I was pretty impressed.  The prototype was not of the quality of the final product, but even despite this, I thought it was a great tool.  I liked the weight of it and the thickness (please don't change that  ;)) and I thought every part of the tool worked well and functioned as it should.  Like I said though, I would probably prefer that phillips to be just a tad shorter.  Oh, and PLEASE add the magnifyer!!  :D

Thanks for the chance to handle the Crony Dough.   I would certainly be interested (cost and magnifying lens permitting  :D) in buying an example of the final product.

I'm back!!

Perhaps the magnifier could be easily removed/replaced? This would not only solve the issue of potential damage under hard use (ie: hammering on the tool), it would also increase functionality to be able to remove it and use independtly of the tool.

If done right, the mag could be sized so as to match a common small compass brand, thus offering the user the option of compass, mag, or nothing at all.

Perhaps a retention ring of some kind with a single small screw to hold things together?
