No blade Thursday...?
on: April 13, 2018, 01:04:52 AM
Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I just came back from an after work event  :drink:   :drink:   at City Hall, London, UK.

We had to go through airport style security to enter --- so I got to see my messenger bag under x-ray inspection!

These days I usually EDC a PS4 Squirt and a TaoTool package opener.  Both have small blades.  I decided to leave these at home because I knew we might be searched before entry, and I was right to do so.  There was a sign that said penknives or fixed blades were not allowed, nor were pointed tweezers and other mildly pointed items, and even.... helium balloons!

That last one stumped me --- how dangerous are helium balloons?   :ahhh   :ahhh   :ahhh

Balloons can block the view of a secured area or block security cameras, especially in large bunches. They have been used to create a distraction by releasing them in a crowd, and if one pops it may sound like gunfire and cause a panic. Just as well you didn't carry that day as your blades may have been confiscated and not returned.

I’d prefer Tiny Blade Thursday to No Blade Thursday. :dwts:

Hmm... Tiny Blade Thursday? There’s an idea, huh? Or Tiny Blade Tuesday. This could go somewhere.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

How airport-safe are the bladeless tools? Any security personnel can claim that the screwdriver/scissors/pliers are equally lethal  :-\
