Newest Expedition Lite - question on metal saw and LED

I want to buy an Expedition Lite.  It mainly comes part of a kit which is fine, but I wanted to know if anyone knows if the metal saw is the newest one.
The newest one has slanted lines on it and not cross lines (hope that makes sense).
Also, I noticed someone showing a new housing that is being offered on the LED light.  I wondered if I bought from Victorinox, if it would have these newest features?

This knife:
http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Expedition+Lite

Considering buying from here:
https://www.victorinox.com/us/en/Products/Swiss-Army-Knives/Medium-Pocket-Knives/Expedition-Kit/p/1.8741.AVT

Thank you in advance.
Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

Well all the SAKs I bought over the last year, with the exception of an SI, had the new file on it. Pretty much guaranteed to get the latest version if you buy from Vic  :tu:

Good to know, thank you.
I see they offer free returns, so I may just go ahead and buy it.

The new file has been out since '05, so that will probably be on the Ex Kit if you order from Vic, but no way to tell about the light, there is supposedly a much brighter version now than the original, and more recently the clear housing as we saw on Hiraethus' CT Lite. Might be worth e-mailing Vic and see if they can tell you before you order, because there is probably a lot of old stock of that model that they might be trying to get rid of first?

Good idea, I just did, so I will hopefully find out something soon.

Have you read the instructions for the altimeter tool? It sounds like the ultimate button-pressing nightmare.
(I have a similarly tedious aquarium feeder which I use whenever we go away for a few days. Programming it drives me practically berserk with frustration...)

Yes, it's no fun at all, but what I mainly want is the light up feature that the LCD has when you get both the clock & altimeter tool in one.

OK, it sounds like you really want those funky electronic scales.
If it was just the Lite you were into, I'd suggest the Mountaineer Lite which has most of the same features for half the price! (Still expensive though!)
I doubt a SAK that expensive would come with decades old components. My Mountaineer Lite had been sitting on a shelf, unsold, for several years when I got it but still had the newest bits and pieces. (apart from the fits-in-the-corkscrew screwdriver! I got a round one, not the hex one - so I was happy about that.)

It's true I do.  I already have a Voyager Lite and an Altimeter, plus the XAVT, so I'm familiar with the quirkiness of the electronics.
I just like the features of the Expedition Light having a toolset that seems like tools I'd like to carry plus the light within the clock area.
It's good you made me think about it though.

Oh really, I haven't seen this housing yet.  Have a link?  Doesnt it still have double liners on each side?

Looks better than the old gray one.  At least that clear plastic (if its the same type as mag glass housing) is pretty durable.  That gray plastic on the old lite was so brittle.

It's been shipped.  It's coming from Connecticut I think, free ground shipping.
I just couldn't pony up that extra $9.99 for faster shipping.

It took 4 weeks each, for the last two flashlights I ordered from Hong Kong to arrive.
Some "airmail".  ::) :D
I'm glad it was free at least. :D
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!
