IF YOU COULD CARRY ONLY ONE FOR LIFE
on: April 16, 2018, 10:31:50 PM
In each case it would be the only tool on your person for the rest of your life.

1.  If you could carry only one knife-based multitool which would it be?

2. If you could carry only one plier-based multitool which would it be?

3. If you could carry only one lock blade knife which would it be?

4. If you could carry only one traditional folder which one would it be?

Here are my choices for each category:

1. Victorinox Swiss Champ

2. Leatherman Super Tool 300

3. Buck 110 Folding Hunter

4. Case Carhartt Large Stockman

1.  If you could carry only one knife-based multitool which would it be?'

Victorinox Ranger.

2. If you could carry only one plier-based multitool which would it be?

Leatherman, and the model doesn't really matter. Would be happy with Surge, ST300, Rebar, etc....

I don't care for folding knives that don't have additional tools, prefer a fixed blade, love Morakniv.

The Vic Ranger would be an excellent choice!

I must admit I am partial to Leatherman tools also.

Those are some great picks.

When you posted the pic of your Code 4 I thought it looked to be very sturdy lock back. It is a cool looking knife.

1. Very tough call, but I'm going with my current EDC, Victorinox Explorer.

2. Hate to be boring, but Leatherman Wave. LOTS of functions, particularly ones not covered by the Explorer.

3. Pass. I have never needed one. If I HAD to pick one, Spyderco Delica

4. Again... pass. I carry a Swiss Army Knife for a reason. More function for same weight. And again, if I HAD to pick one, I dunno, go find me a Buck with brass bolsters, I guess.

Here we go

I guess I'll go with my SRM 910 for a locking knife since it's my favorite at the moment.

SAK - SwissChamp (my rebuilt '92)

MT - Spirit X (the one in my pocket)

LB - Spydie Endura 4

Trad. - UN-X-LD 68 Buckaroo (stag, 1095)

As much as I like Climbers and my Pioneer X, I would go with the SC over anything else for the long haul.  :tu:

These test me in every way to come up with answers  :ahhh

In each case it would be the only tool on your person for the rest of your life.

1.  If you could carry only one knife-based multitool which would it be?  Explorer Plus

2. If you could carry only one plier-based multitool which would it be?  Charge TTi

3. If you could carry only one lock blade knife which would it be? Syderco DragonFly 2.

4. If you could carry only one traditional folder which one would it be?  I don't have a lot of trads.  I have a CRKT Toothpick thats really neat.

Blade based multi...would be a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife,
my '84 Champion Plus. That would cover almost everything. Second choice a Huntsman or Fieldmaster because they have the typical base of tools but also a scissors and saw. That should cover most issues.

Plyer based... My OG Surge can do so much it is THE workhorse so that's gotta be it...but man, the Rebar I got back in September has been on my belt every day since, so that's my second choice

Lockback knife...Buck 110. Cherry flavored Pez. No doubt about it. The originals hold a lot of craftsmanship and beauty, but I admit, I like this paper stone (micarta) version

Classic folder...never had one other than a Victorinox. I suppose I might go with an original US Army demolition knife for its indestructible qualities.

1.  This is easy for me.  Between my two sweet custom SAKs, the MechaRogue and TiRogue.

2.  This is tougher as my taste in pliers based MTs changes.  I don't really need one often, but like having one on me just in case.  Currently it's my new Wave, which has more than I really need.

3 and 4 don't apply to me.

Proud SAKMC member :)

1.  If you could carry only one knife-based multitool which would it be? - Easy Peasy - Swisschamp

2. If you could carry only one plier-based multitool which would it be? - Easy Peasy - Gerber MP400 (Bladeless)

3. If you could carry only one lock blade knife which would it be? - Guessing here cuz I haven't handled one, but a Buck 112 - time tested, nice size and robust.

4. If you could carry only one traditional folder which one would it be? - Again, a Buck 112.
