these would keep me happy on all fronts

Pioneer #148 by A Perret
Vic Spirit RT
ZT0562CF 20CV
Forge de Laguiole black horn tip
 :salute:

Nice choices microbe! :like: :tu: :tu:

I particularly like the Pioneer and Laguiole!

Thanks, it was a though choice for a few of those. The Pioneer has proven itself worthy for nearly half a century, so a special one is well deserved. The Laguiole goes back even further with a 2 century history under its belt, and the black horn tip one is a looker imho.
Anyway, all 4 are outstanding tools I would recommend to annyone!

Been thinking about this again as I was tidying up and moving stuff around at home.  Ended up moving my toybox down to a shelf within reach of the kids.  To stop them getting hold of the sharp stuff in there I've locked it and consequently not been able to swap out my EDC as much as I used to.  So for the last week or so I've had only the following readily available for use:

One of either a GEC Calf Roper, Victorinox Electrician or Chris Reeve Sebenza in my pocket - the other two get put in my backpack.
Victorinox Rambler + Eagletac D25AAA on my home keys and a Leatherman Style PS on my work keys.
Victorinox Spirit and L-wrench with bit kit and a Thrunite T10T in my bag.

Other than the keychain stuff, that's pretty much what I said a month ago:
Electrician
Victorinox Spirit
Small Sebenza Insingo
GEC Calf Roper

That's done everything I could have asked of it with ease. I wonder if I need to get rid of some of the unused stuff...

 (Image removed from quote.)
For life Surge has the best chance of being around on my grave digger's utility belt.
i have to agree with that!
if you have a Surge and it's accessories on your person, theres no need to carry anything else.
besides maybe another surge on your other side to act as a counter weight.

These test me in every way to come up with answers  :ahhh

In each case it would be the only tool on your person for the rest of your life.

1.  If you could carry only one knife-based multitool which would it be?  Explorer Plus

2. If you could carry only one plier-based multitool which would it be?  Charge TTi

3. If you could carry only one lock blade knife which would it be? Syderco DragonFly 2.

4. If you could carry only one traditional folder which one would it be?  I don't have a lot of trads.  I have a CRKT Toothpick thats really neat.

Always fun to revisit these thread.

1. I think the answer would be same however I have a very strong feeling the Champion is so close these days.  Lots of functions and really not that much bigger IMO.

2. My answer is the same but the Surge is so darn close it is worth mentioning.

3. I would change my answer since I now have a Benchmade 555.  While the Dragonfly is a superb knife the BM offers just a little more blade and is so darn fun to open and close.

4. Here where things get very interesting.  I now have many trads to choose from so it makes this answer very hard.  Easy answer is my Psalm 23 trapper since it is meaningful to me.  Of course that said, I really like my Pemberton.

2) Leatherman Wave

3) Buck 110

4) Case small Trapper

You talkin' to me?
I was mostly absent during 2018.
I was using Gerber Double Take as a locking blade then, until I lost it. I loved it but I can't find another one. So it's K55K now (Opinel locks too of course and both are traditional in Europe, so there is a redundancy here).

1.  If you could carry only one knife-based multitool which would it be? This is the toughest of these questions for me, Probably Victorinox Outrider since the exercise is for this to be the only tool I have. Otherwise the Pioneer X and the SwissChamp are close contenders.

2. If you could carry only one plier-based multitool which would it be? Leatherman Wave OG

3. If you could carry only one lock blade knife which would it be? Ontario RAT 2

4. If you could carry only one traditional folder which one would it be? Camillus Scout, which is the Demo with Delrin Stag covers... or maybe a Camillus 2-blade serpentine pen knife, because I like it

Hmmm...interesting question to ponder before my coffee

1.  If you could carry only one knife-based multitool which would it be? My Victorinox Craftsman - this guy falls between the old Champion and the Swiss Champ. It's the ideal combination of tools and size for me.

2. If you could carry only one plier-based multitool which would it be?  My Leatherman Wave circa 2003 - no interchangeable bits to be lost. Heavy, but worth the weight.

3. If you could carry only one lock blade knife which would it be? My Ontario Utilitac II - this knife carries easily, opens fast, locks up tight, and maintains a great edge. Mine is the modified clip point, "round butt" style.

4. If you could carry only one traditional folder which one would it be? Some type of Canoe pattern (I'm not a traditional knife guy) - I don't own any, but I like the look of this style.
"Never pick a fight with an old man. If he's too old to fight, he'll just kill you."
