The big Vic & Wenger Catalog Archive project
on: April 17, 2018, 01:29:46 PM
I thought it may be useful to create a digital archive with as many possible catalogs of Victorinox and Wenger. In the most ideal situation the archive would contain all catalogs from all years. I don't know when the first catalog was produced but the old catalogs would certainly be interesting to look at.

So if any of you have any catalogs, especially the older ones, it would be great if you could share them in digital format!

Please post links here, or send me a PM or whatever :)

I will create a simple website with the catalogs and host them there!

Let's see how far we can get!

No worries.  There's loads of good info in there, and if you get/have got any more catalogs that are not shown they can be added. :like:

AFAIK, on SAKWiki the majority catalogs are in JPG format (pictures)
And only few of them - in PDF and physically they're stored in external resources.

Thanks to Zoidberg, I discovered the MTO Gallery, so I used it to post some old SAK catalogs that are currently not available on SAKWiki. They are at:
http://gallery.multitool.org/index.php/MiniChamp/Catalogs

Note that you need to click on the images to get the full size versions.

I hope that the bosses will not disapprove of me using the gallery for this purpose.

I recently acquired some folders/leaflets/brochure material, among which this one that is normally only available at military dealer shows. I will make a decent quality PDF version of it next week so it can be uploaded to the Catalog section of MTO or SAKWiki  :salute:

Hello Knights
Finally getting around to some catalogue work.....
Wow!
Very interested and excited to see it!!
Well it's in now: --->>>  1946 (late 40s) Victorinox Catalogue
Ivo - I managed to compress the 73Mb file you sent me down to 2Mb !! .... Thanks Whoey   :salute:
And strangely - It is the same catalogue as one that MiniChamp dug out at the end of last year - With one interesting difference - One is in English - The other in German - Both are now in the Wiki.
I also uploaded the "Bis 1970" catalogue that MiniC found

And .......
Thanks to Zoidberg, I discovered the MTO Gallery, so I used it to post some old SAK catalogs that are currently not available on SAKWiki. They are at:

This is great work and info, MC, and (not that I am a boss ???  :pok: ) - I approve   :tu:  :D
So I put a link to this too from the Wiki page - in the last section - And also slightly reworked that section too

Let me know if you have any more catalogues to upload folks
I have a few PDF post 2000 catalogues to upload - So will do that in the near future

And thoughts on the catalogue page in the Wiki much appreciated (eg usability? PDF vs Image versions?)

H

I recently discovered that various Victorinox documents are available on Yumpu (which seems to be a nice platform). Hence, I'm providing direct links to those of them that I consider to be the most interesting (some other Victorinox and Wenger documents can be found by searching Yumpu).

The first group includes five documents that Victorinox created in 2009, each of which is a compilation that combines various historical brochures and/or catalog pages. These documents seem to have been made for the benefit of collectors.
The "Gesamt-Katalog bis 1970" seems to be the most comprehensive and important document in this group. (It contains, among other things, the key to figuring out the various old model numbers of Victorinox SAKs.) As it was recently arranged by Huntsman (see his post above), a compressed version of it is now also available on SAKWiki. The "Gesamt-Katalog bis 1980" is similar and overlaps it quite a bit. Part of what makes it interesting is that the differences between the two documents correspond to various changes (such as the withdrawal of many 84mm models) that occurred around the early 1970's. The other three documents are of limited scope (as suggested by their names), but also interesting.

Another document that seems to have been created by Victorinox for the benefit of collectors is the following:
It is a catalog compilation (made in 2011) covering most of the "special" SAKs (limited editions, unusual scales, etc.) that Victorinox made from the 1980's until 2011.

Finally, the informative document "Everything you need to know about Multi-tools and cutlery" is available on Yumpu in two languages (English and German). Note that while the English version is also available elsewhere, the Yumpu version may be preferable (since it doesn't have double pages).

Interesting site MC - Thanks for this
It seem to be a platform where anyone can upload documents - And some look like they have been placed there by Vic them selves (eg userid victorinox.com, swisssarmy.com; b2b.victorinox.ch) or Vic dealers (trgcorporate)
There's dozens of Vic docs there!!
Some not that great quality (eg fuzzy images!)

Shall we put the links you have identified above in the Wiki
Or maybe just a link to Yumpu/Victorinox pages

Thoughts ?  ???

Am going to try and send you that big catalogue snow !

I think that this would be a good idea, particularly if you want to avoid having too many large PDF files on SAKWiki itself.
