You may not know the name Verne Troyer but I'm quite certain you would recognize Mini Me from Austin Powers.  I just read that he passed away at 49, and it is alleged that it may have been related to alcohol.

While he may not have had the broad reaching influence of many actors, he was almost certainly one of the most recognizable after the Austin Powers movies.
