Very disappointed in my CRKT Stubby Razel

Finally got this knife in and I am very disappointed in the quality of it. The liner lock is horrible. Here’s a pic.

Sending it back is not an option as I would have to pay the return shipping overseas. I might try taking the knife apart and grinding the back of the blade where the liner lock hits. Just not sure...

After watching some YouTube videos I now realize I have been hoodwinked!  This knife is a fake!

I have contacted the eBay seller. See where it goes from there. 

Dang it!!!!  My first time being hoodwinked!!!

Well crud, now I don’t know if mine is a fake or not. I had seen on YouTube a supposed fake that looked like mine, but looking at the CRKT website, mine does “look” real.  Now I just don’t know...

Wow. Sorry about that being a disappointment!  I don't know if it is fake or not, but the construction looks terrible compared to the standard folding Razel by CRKT. :think:

Looking at the stock photo, the jimping on the liner lock bar looks more defined than the knife you pictured. CRKT also doesn't have a pocket clip that poorly finished from what I know of my CRKT collection.

If you used PayPal and went through eBay you should open a reclamation/case and the seller ought to either pay for the return shipping back and reimburse the entire amount to you, or reimburse you the entire amount for selling a "Not As Described" item and letting you keep it to avoid shipping hassle.

There are probably various options but in all of them you ought to be made whole  :cheers:

PS: as a side note, normal CRKT linerlocks can be that low % in the lockup and still be fine, and usually the lockbar travels a bit in the first days of use to finally settle down at a normal and secure point,  :salute:

but being a fake, no bother in trying that  :tu:

Have you spine-whacked it?

It can't be a problem if you're just cutting.

If you're using it like a chisel and it closes it looks like the guard will stop against your finger.

If you're using it like a chisel and it closes it looks like the guard will stop against your finger.

Everyone is asleep here, but I tried a quick spine whack. Didn’t close but still makes me nervous. If I was bearing down on it as a scraper and it closed, it would get me good.   What little guard is there would quickly push past my finger, allowing the blade to quickly hit my finger.

You might try opening it 32,000 times while watching Breaking Bad on Netflix, to see if the lock bar starts to seat more deeply.

I bought the nr 0430 done months ago. I love the Graham designs but can't afford it (bought the boker lancer bc of the same reason) so I was really excited about the CRKT one.


Worst knife I've bought. 0% lockup and the secondary lock won't ever be able to be used.

I can't even give out away with good conscience as it it's a finger trap.

Edit: this was bought some months ago and every now and then I bring it out and clean it up, oil etc and flick it for a while. It managed to get to a 10% lock too eventually. Which is too little for my liking and still won't allow that secondary lock function to work.

there are both fake CRKTs, with lesser steel and/or worse tolerances, fit and finish and quality materials
and knives sold and shipped "through the backdoor" of the factories in China that make the knives for CRKT, but sell them un-branded for cheaper prices

Those don't even look close in build quality. The new one looks much better finished than the old one. :ahhh

Is it me, or does the old (possibly fake) one's blade tip (second edge) not sink into the handle all the way?
