Send in the clown! :D
on: May 02, 2018, 07:02:09 PM
Bought a couple Bear & Son MTs from the member "clown".
I am very thrilled and can 'bearly' contain my excitement.   :D
Arrived very quickly and as described in the ad in MTs for sale.
Thank you for that. And for anyone who hasn't seen a Bear & Son MT manual (I have never seen one myself). Here are some pics showing each side of the manual. Also pictured the Super Bear Jaws with the later 156L (locking components) and Super Bear Jaws 157 Bird tool.

Hehe. Those are Bear & Son's 157 bird shears. They also make several other variations. Very nice cutting heads on these Bear shears.

Eventually I want to get a bear jaws just to check them out. Cool piece of history that's still in production.

I think every MT guy/gal should have at least one Bear Jaws in their collection. The last MT maker that does most of the work by hand (not machinery).

Only down side with their MTs. You're going to find an issue (or a few) with the fit/finish, smoothness/lockup....etc.
If you want a perfectly made MT, then a LM, Vic, or Gerber would be better choices.
Bear Jaws are just so outdated compared to the big competition. But, I'll say it again, every MT guy/gal should have at least one Bear Jaws in their collection. They are a big player in MT history with the innovation of outside accessed tools. :tu:
