That feeling when you realize you have lost a tool, really sucks!
Have you checked between the seats and on the floor of your car?

Yes sir I have. I've got a big old Chevy Blazer. The big one, so there's a lot of room for travel if it falls between the seat. I keep a 25 year old 3-D MagLite   down on the floor between my seat and the console. I think I'd have heard that and the Alox ping off of each other but I didnt. And looking produced no sign of it.

Thanks though.

GRATHR!

Found it!

If you know those big old Blazers, you know what I mean when I say I found it way in the back. Not the cargo area, but under the back seat, in a little dark corner. Most cars today, the back seats rest on sort of a solid bench. This seat has to be able to fold down so the back is flat with the cargo area. Plus there are small crevices. It  probably fell and was propelled when I accelerated on the way to work.

Yay!

:tu:

I have found pens and a couple SAKs I was sure was lost forever in strange places in the car too. I have come to the conclusion that certain pants and shorts have a weird tendency to make things fall out of the pockets when driving/entering/ leaving the car.

I agree that would be a good one to have, however, I may delve into the 111mm realm next. Trekker, Forester, maybe an old Rucksack.

Yep. I checked that truck twice yesterday and had not found it. Because the back has to be able to fold down flush to create extended cargo area (picture a pickup truck with no divide between cab and cargo, then add back seats where the back of the cab  would usually be...) that means that the bottom of the back seat also sinks down, and there is space there for that to happen.

Third time's a charm, as they say. I was SO stoked this morning. I put my bag in the truck and decided to take another look. Moved the driver seat full forward, removed some tools and map books (yes I have a GPS, but I have topographical tyvek maps of areas to hike, and also, map books which are also gazetteers that point out camp sites, aquatic put-ins, allowed fishing sites, and what not, in case I'm not getting signal).

I fished that knife out of a little crevice far to the rear under the back seat and almost hit my head on the door jam giving a little whoop!

I wasn't actually offended haha I was just playing around  :pok:

I don't remember that quote from Three Amigos, I'm going to have to rewatch that. And if I was motherless, would that make me like reverse Jesus?

Earlier this week.
I had just got home from work when the phone rang.
It was an old man down the road, he had found a goat and needed a hand.
Poor thing was caught in bramble and had suffered through a couple very cold days of rain.
While brushing off the fly eggs I found she was pregnant.
I wrapped her in a horses neck cover and carried her over the hills and multiple deer fences.
Despite the old mans efforts through the evening she didn't make the night.
Really thought she would recoup but now can't help wondering if going in for the kid should have happened.
For the size I prefer the Pioneer X as I use scissors quite a bit and like saws to be bigger.

That's a sad story, Dr. Z. Valiant effort, though, to you both. THAT'S the type of thing for which a badge should be awarded.

Don't second guess yourself. You are abviously experienced at this type of thing and thought she'd get better

Just thinking like how would she react if you replace it with a different one?

That movie is 'infamous' in my video library.

-what's infamous mean?

- that must mean MORE than just famous!

Lucky you. You found your pressures knife. And the wife/girl friend will not be utterly disappointed  for losing her gift.

I lost more knives than I retrieved. But it was always a comforting thought that although I lost a knife, someone else found a knife! You see, If somebody finds your SAK, he/she will not throw it away, but keep it. Your loss is the other persons gain  ;)

excellent point, EMZ!   One can just hope that they give the found SAK its due respect and refrain from using the blade as a screwdriver....

great news that you've found it.

now I can finally say that the title of this thread reminded me of this guy
Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob
