Day 24

Not much going on today
So I helped with cutting cucumber
And opening a tin of hotdogs

I was surprised that the PE blade is still nice and sharp
And was able to cut thin slices of cucumber

Using the can opener was easier
as the lid on the tin seems thinner  :tu:

No problems to report  :D :like:

Nice work, W! Looks like a little practice has made opening that can a bit easier. :)

My first real contribution.  ::)

Filed some soft plastic... I compared the PA file with the Victorinox SAK file, the older version before the current stainless steel version. The SAK that this file is on is a used 90’s/early 00’s swisschamp (I think the file was fairly unused prior to acquisition)

When sawing through the soft (but thick-ish) plastic, the SAK file was about twice as fast, but at the expense of needing a good technique and hold on the piece to prevent “catching” if you know what I mean. Kinda like sawing wood.

When filing the plastic on the side of the files to smoothen the edges... I thought that the PA file felt just as aggressive on the crosshatch side as the SAK on the aggressive side.  But the SAK file has more area and no giant hole in it, so...  :D

Needs testing on different materials.

Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

Excellent testing Pabs
Another good test would be the SAK
and SOG PA can opener comparison  :tu:

At this point, I am formally withdrawing from the PAD challenge. I'm sorry to say that I do feel a sense of relief with this decision.

This is the first Challenge I can remember where two of us have dropped out because we thought the MT was lame.  I too was relieved to send my back to Amazon.

Pity you two were less than satisfied... meanwhile, on Day 25, I am still mostly OK with mine, the main exceptions being the sheath's velcro and the file. Although the latter does work, after a fashion, I like it the least of all the tools on the PAD. No active duty today, so a beauty shot again.
Cheers!

The town where the wedding took place had a Cabela's store. The Opinel spoke to me. :D

I have gotten into trouble at Bass Pro before, but managed to behave myself at Cabela's. They were so desperate to get ne to sign up for their CC that I got $20 off of the Opinel, a free Browning folding knife, free Cabela MT (junk), free Cabela club hat, and a big bucket of pretzel twists.

I made out like a bandit, because I am never going to use that CC. I even told them I don't pay credit and they did it anyway. I even told them I live 200 miles away. I kept turning down the CC and they just kept piling stuff up to entice me. The $20 off the Opinel was the kicker.

Day 26

Today I started working on my bike
To get it ready for a MOT
So I have to put the road legal number
plate back on with the required reflector

I used the medium driver on the bottle opener
To hold the screws while undoing the
nuts on the back of the bracket

No problems with using the medium driver :tu:

Nice use.

So......after the inspection the smaller plate gets put back on?

Of course

Day 26

Wanted to check the remaining charge on a battery, only to discover that the voltage tester had trouble with its own battery . The battery cover was secured with a small Phillips into which the small screwdriver just about fit perfectly. Not in the picture, the ensuing crimping of the 9V battery attachment with the PAD's pliers after which the battery and cover were replaced and measurements could proceed.

Cheers!

And the pandas don't mind the non-MOT plate while you are on the road (presumably not speeding )?

Most traffic police are ok
It’s that small percentage that gives you trouble
Most of the time that I have been stopped
is for a talk about speeding on their road
Not that I was speeding
As he or she don’t want to be dealing with
accidents or deaths again through speeding  :salute:

Day 27

Today I am still finishing working on my bike
And I nearly forgot to fit the silencer tube to the exhaust
I used the integral bit holder on the PAD
with a Allen key bit from a different bit kit to fit the tube

No real problems
But could only do small turns as
the Allen bolt hasn’t got much space on the exhaust
The 1/4” driver with the adapter would of worked better
but I had to try  :D
