Thank you Huntsman :hatsoff:
I still can't see how they are able to leave the shield in silver  though :think:

Not sure what you mean   :think:   -  Sorry

Are you saying the shield should be changed to gold colour?  or what?

What I mean is, why is it not green?
It's anodized, or isn't it?  :think:

If so it would be completely submerged into the electrochemical bath.

I do not see any tool marks that indicate the removal of the olive colour to free the shield from it.

Just thinking  :think:

Most likely the production  computer system directd a small sanding bit to remove the anodizing from the shield part. :)

Edit: in the older ones, this could be done by hand with small rotary sanding bits.

@ MTMATT - Got ya - Yes always wondered that myself too.

@GLBM - Thanks for the (potential) explanation/theory - Sounds very intricate   :o

And even more complex - What about the ones with eg black scales, silver outline and red inside the emblem - Love those !
Or patterns on the alox !!

Hmmm, yes  :tu:

....or, just had this idea, what about they're printing a removable coating over the parts that should stay silver?
