Thinking a bit more about this 'system'People are thinking too much about angles, knowing an angle and being able to find an angle can be usefull but to re-sharpen a knife we just need to follow the existing grindAll we need to do is line up the surface of the sand paper until its the same as the cutting bevelI'm too steep here(Image removed from quote.)Better but a bit shallow (Image removed from quote.)Hitting the bevel now (sorry for the poor picture)I would carry on and sharpen the whole edge at this angle(Image removed from quote.)We didn't need to know the angle to sharpen this chopper and we still don't but for curiosity's sake (Image removed from quote.)And just for JRThe prop/brick is 4" highAt 14% (I don't have a degrees sign )The prop is 15 1/2" back from the cutting edgeAt 17%The prop is 12 1/2" back from the cutting edgeAt 20%The prop is 10 1/2" back from the cutting edgeHope this is useful to someone
I use ALT + 0176 = ° or ALT + 0186 = º
No worrys JR I did think one or two other people might have had a go and reported back Oh well there's a ton of stuff here to sharpen
No one is using 'my system' so I guess I will have to do another knifeThat one at the front Nice old penknife with brass liners(Image removed from quote.)Regrind the blade profilesLooking better(Image removed from quote.)Screw it to a bit of wood(Image removed from quote.)That was no good as the sand paper was hitting the washerAdd some scraps of wood and a piece of leather to protect the knife (Image removed from quote.)The blades had almost a chisel grind originally so I went with thatPoor pictures but it has turned out razor sharp (Image removed from quote.)Nice little knife (Image removed from quote.)
