Day 5

Used the can opener and knife blade to fix lunch this afternoon.

Sorry guys, I´m bailing out.  :facepalm:

As much as I like the SwissChamp, it´s one of the coolest SAKs I have, I feel I can´t complete the challenge.

After only four days I came to realize I didn´t use the SwissChamp very much because I don´t want it to get hurt in any way. And I miss my usual multiple alox carry, and my 111mm..

Besides, past experience in 30 day challenges taught me that I don´t particularly like being forced to make a picture of the same SAK every day. I love making pics, but I prefer choosing the subject SAK on a daily basis. Also, skipping a day every now and then wouldn´t be a problem.

Good luck to you, Gene and Exeter, may the Swiss Army Gods be with you.

Today the Swisschamp sat on my desk - and in my bag while we were out shopping - without anything to do, so here's a pic from the other day, when I used it for dinner. (This could/should have been a SAK's and spreads photo, but I accidentally deleted the pics of preparation of the herring spread, dicing onion and pickles.)

Just getting caught up with this Challenge.  I did this awhile back and had a great time!  Mine rides on my duty belt next to my Rebar and sees alot of use.  Have a great time with the ultimate SAK!

Before I got my Deluxe Climber I wasn't to sure how well the little Vic pliers would work for me. After using one for the last few years I've learned just how robust and usefull they really are. :tu:

Used the Swisschamp to snip off a loose thread from the wife's shirt while we were out, with the can opener I undressed another Explorer for cleaning - a different one, I found this one today on the flea market - and wanted to open a can of baked beans only to find out it has pulltab opening, so the Champ had to sit that one out.  >:( (Pictured: the Explorer operation)

Brought up the wife's bike from the basement, adjusted the gear shifting system a bit and checked and tightened a couple of other screws on it. I'm repeating myself, but I just love how secure and precise the Victorinox inline Phillips drivers are, it's always a pleasure to use them, very well formed tools.

Kitchen duties. Though not as handy and excellent in the kitchen as the 111 mm version because of the smaller blade size, the Swisschamp - along with the other 91 mm models - is still a superb slicer. The wide handle means no problem either.

Cut up some medical adhesive tape to secure the wire of the kitchen counter LED, which has been hanging like that for quite a few weeks now. :) I know it's not the most elegant solution, but practical, and as this is a rental flat I can't put nails into the cupboard. (And why medical tape, you ask? Simply because of the color, the tan works much better than the grey/silver of duct tape or the white or black of the electrical tape. :) )

Day 13

Some kitchen tasks with the aim to have some mythbustin'. I used the main blade to cut up an avocado, easy-peasy.

And I wanted to try and show something, after reading/hearing here and there that the fishscaler works nice on "French bread". Why only that, I don't know, but I tried it once and it was barely adequate. Today I had a bit softer one, with no hard crust, and well, I was able to cut it, but still, the normal knife blade did a much nicer job, an easier and cleaner cut. So I guess that puts this French bread thing to bed.

The fishscaler is also often mentioned as something you can spread spreads with. Well, you can, if you really need to, but again, the normal blade would do a better job, this tool is just too narrow and awkwardly shaped for that task. So that's that. :)
