Hello, i need your expertise.
I have a charge ALX, wich, in closed position does not stay closed. One handel is loose and rattles for 4 mm measured at the bottom.
I believe that the V shaped inside handels spring is to blame. How can o torque it so my tool stays fermly closed?
Many thx

Looks brand new - is it possible to send it back to Leatherman?

The little spring inside the handles doesn't do much to change the handle stiffness.  It's probably the pivot that's loose.  Is there any play in the blades on that side?

Also, are there any washers between the pliers and handle?

Brand new, washers everything is ok.Blades open and clsoes ok. No play at pliers pivot.
I would want no warranty at this point

I agree with Hirohito, sounds like the pivot to me.

The V-shape only activates the bladelock when opening the pliers.
They have nothing to do with tensioning the pivot point.

Perhaps the spacing inside the frame is slightly too wide, thus not enough friction to keep the handles closed?

Sounds like a loose plier pivot.

I managed to get a Surge gen1 with the same issue, and i have to admit i was wrong regarding the inner v spring.
After reassembly i tightened the bolt at the handles and pliers and removed the play uet at the cost of having the outside tools extremely hard to open.
CHRONO's statement is the most accurate in such cases...  the spacing inside the frame is slightly too wide, thus not enough friction to keep the handles closed.
