Only have a few Gerber BG items, but couldn't find a club for them. :ahhh
I know a bunch of us on MT.o have Gerber BG Survival stuff.
My small collection so far. I like the color combos and/or styling of the tools. :)
BG Ultimate MT (Based on Strata) w/ plastic sheath, ferro rod, and flashlight.
BG Ultimate MT (Based on Suspension) w/ awful quality sheath.
BG Compact (Based on Clutch)
BG OHB MultiKnife
BG 6 in 1 Pocket Tool(traditional style)
BG Scout Locking Knife (combo blade)

Hey,

I don’t have any BG items. Can you tell me something about the BG Ultimate MT (Based on Strata) w/ plastic sheath? Do you like it?

It is a decent MT for light weight and most mediun duty tasks from my experience. I do like it. Not too heavy and looks good. The double cut side of the file is fine, but the single cut side isn't very useful.
A lot of people like the sheath, but when I bought both of mine, the rubber straps were broken in the packaging. They are discontinued, so they had been in the clamshells for years and years. So, I fashioned a leather strap for the one I use. The plastic holder itself is good and holds the flashlight and ferro rod along with the MT without being really bulky.
Hope that helps.

Thank you, Barry!

I look forward to seeing the hatchet, as that is one of the BGs I have been looking at recently.  :)

Have had the folder for years, and it is a great knife! Also bought the original ultimate about a year ago, and love it just as much. Unfortunately, both are sitting about 400 miles from camera range, so I have no pics . Great thread GB! :like:

I am surprised everyday I use the Scout knife. I bought three on clearance and use one as a beater ar work. I really didn't expect it to hold up so dang well.  :)

Awesome stuff, Chako! I still need to get one of the fixed blades from the series. They look good and reviews say they are quite good as well.

I think I had everything in the collection at one point...then they got weird and started making so many different items... that I sort of stopped chasing that car. In fact, my wake up call was me buying the BG cheese grater, er kindling grater.

Thank you for taking those pictures and sharing them, Chako! It is soo cool to see how diverse the BG collection is!

Even though I love the color combo on the BG stuff, the brass bolster gentleman's multi-knife is gorgeous. IMO of course.

The "kindling" grater is quite interesting and one I have never seen before. The kits are really cool as well. The machete is new to me also. I like the shape of it.
I used to walk by the BG stuff at the store and dismiss it as "gimmicky". Now I wish I had acquired more of it. :o

The machete is an early copy. There was a recall on them...something about the handle failing. I never sent my copy in to get it fixed.

That is a good looking gentleman's BG folder, Ron!

I just ordered a small BG folder on eBay, because of that.

Just be careful. Surprisingly, there are a great many fake copies out there. If you notice any slight differences in the above photos when I have doubles or two similar items in the same photo...that is because I knowingly bought cheap copies to see what they were all about.

I for one love the organge color of the BG themed stuff and the plastic sheaths they do,  :tu:
but abhorr the items themselves and the quality seems to be all over the place.  :ahhh

Both the Gerber BG Parang machete and the Gerber Gator and Gator Jr. machetes had catastrophic failure and even some injured users so they had to be recalled, remade and sometimes discontinued   :P

I have long searched for the OEM of the Strata plastic sheath because I LOVE it and would like to purchase it separately but so far no luck
My toys:

MTs: Surge (2x), Skeletool CX, Rebar, Blast, Fuse, Micra, Squirt (3x), Wave, Crunch, Mini, Spirit (2x), Pro Scout, MP700 (2x), Diesel, Powerlock, PowerPlier (2x), PocketPowerPlier, Blacktip , ST6 (2x), 5WR, A100

SAKs: Bantam, Executive, Ambassador, Minichamp, Classic Alox, Champion, Farmer, Explorer, Swisschamp, Golf Tool, Wenger Champ, EVO 52, Pocket Tool Chest

The one I ordered looks like one I saw at walmart some time ago, so I am hoping it is legit. $13 isn't too bad though, if it turns iut the be a copy. It is one of the only ones that has "built in USA with global materials" I have seen. :)

I have not seen a plastic Strata sheath. Ever...
But, who knows, you could luck up on one one day. I will certainly keep an eye open for one for you now. :tu:
The Strata is a big "love it or hate it" multitool, but most people have since warmed up to it. And rightfully so, if I may add.
The BG version too it to the next level. :D

Alrighty then, I do believe I qualify. This isn't a pic of just the BG stuff, there's a bunch of other things here too. And a bunch of things missing too, like a couple more Victorinox swiss army knives. A couple of Moras and so on.
