Ah, that was what the leftover bikes were about. I thought those were abandoned from bungee jumps gone wrong.  ::)

Hey all. I am alive and a couple of hundred km into the trip. Decided to crank out some k's while on the flat bit.
Sorry I missed catching up Zoidberg, stormed straight past with the bit between my teeth.
In Geraldine tonight and facing a bit of a climb up to Fairlie tomorrow. Then Burkes Pass the day after.

I'll try and edit a couple of pics down to a size to post here. Was drizzly rain all day today which made a change from getting sunburnt on Wednesday.

Met another biker on the road yesterday he was from Canada and had been on the road since November.

Was so far ahead of schedule that I decided to do the Mt Cook side trip. It adds about 120km  and two days.
Rough camped on the shore of lake Pukaki last night.  Pic 1. This is why I'm here...

A few more neighbours tonight but still spectacular view to sleep in front of. Pic 2

There's a fantastic left downhill bend when you first see Pukaki, the view opens up wider and wider than it seems it should - and that's in a car going 100kph.

Been a bit slow on the updates but I've tagged on to a group of American greybeards and we've been putting in some pretty big miles.

This was yesterday effort...

Two highest mountain passes in the country in three days. I'm shattered.
Glad of a couple of rest days in Queenstown. Also need to good a broken spoke.

What an amazing trip  :o.

I sure hope you post some more pics of it.
For the moment I can only dream of a trip like that.

I did buy a new bike which will be better soothed for long trips like that, but I still have to put in a lot of work (mostly on myself and my stamina) before even thinking of going for a trip like that...

Been in Queenstown for a couple of days now. Also had a MAD side trip into Skippers Canyon.
In an area I can get some decent data rate now so will try and get a few more pics uploaded.
These are still just a teaser. Many more to come once I'm back in Brisbane and at the PC.

Last day of the trip. I fly out this afternoon.
Strava tells me that if I ride straight to the airport I'll be about 6km short of 800km for the trip.
Well, that's not going to happen is it? Scenic route it is.
