The Archery Club.
on: May 25, 2018, 02:26:37 AM
I think it would be great to have a place to discuss anything and everything about archery.

I will start this thread with plenty of photographs of my gear. Lets see where this topic can go.

Leather back-quiver that I made from scratch.

Various arrows in the back-quiver.

50 # Scythian Horse-bow.

50# PSE Sequoia flat-bow.

Martin Onza and gear. The case I painted back in the mid 90s.

Vintage Easton autumn orange xx75 aluminium arrows in 2413 size.

Toxonic dual scope target sight. The idea behind this was to be able to select the sight of choice during a competition. Simply press a button and swing the whole arm assembly around.

The Martin Onza was produced in the late 80s to early 90s. It was Martin's top model at the time. It was fast for its day with the build in overdraw...and it weighed a ton compared to a more modern bow.

My more modern target bow, an APA Mamba MX1 in red flame. I went all out with this, even color accessorizing everything.

When I first laid eyes on this bow in a magazine, I knew I wanted one. Meet the Liberty 1 by Liberty Archery. The stabilizer I use for this bow is ugly but very effective. The bow is ugly...so I went and found the ugliest hunting stabilizer I could find. Because this is a hunting bow, I decked it out as one.

Because the Liberty 1 doesn't have a traditional riser, you shoot through the limbs. The angled handle is a bit weird as well. It does take some getting used to.

Hunting sight with built in light for the pins.

Looking from the front of the bow.

This type of hunting rest will hold the arrow in place. Great for tree stand hunting.

The Liberty 1 is a very short bow with an axle to axle length of only 20.5 inches. The biggest issue with this bow is nock pinch.

Hoyt Helix in Red Ember. This Olympic style recurve will accept any ILF Universal Limbs. I use Hoyt 300 carbon limbs.

Target bows really get a of stability help from super long target stabilizers.

Toxonics target sight with scope.

I'll try to throw up a pic of my Matthews compound tomorrow.

I'd like to get into recurve archery at some point, but there is so little time!

I found an old fiberglass longbow dirt cheap last month at a local gun show. I bought it with the intention of using it as a wall decoration. I bought a string and used a string  keeper that I already had, and just installed it a short while back. It is the one in the background.

I got right into archery in high school, but when I moved to go to university I didn't keep it up. My bow (old Hoyt compound) was in a cupboard in a spare room, when I got it out a few months back the string had perished and let go. I always wanted to get a longbow to use in the back yard

I love archery, but I have held off getting too involved in it as I don't need yet another hobby to compete for my money!   :ahhh

Besides, I could work at it for years and still not eve be close to the best archer in my house...

Megan has been shooting her Matthews compound bow for a few years now and she has an excellent talent for it.  In her first year of shooting she started competing and placed quite respectably.  And, she can shoot my crappy cheapo fiberglass toy with better accuracy and power than I can shoot her compound bow with!   :ahhh

Do not mess with this woman!
