New - Leatherman Rebar +
on: May 25, 2018, 10:24:05 PM
Finally today the mailman delivered the envelope from St.Petersburg which I was waiting sooo long for. The Irish customs had it lying around their premises for over 2 weeks

Some new Leatherman Wave scissors...

Hmmmm....

Maan, the screws were locked-solid...

Small screwdriver hop to the other side, replacing that un-useful spacer.
The Philips must stay in center position for the pliers to fully shut...

Now to the other side. Removing the small screwdriver alone does not make enough space for the scissors.
So I took the lanyard ring out too and replaced it with a thinner washer.

First I was thinking of grinding the lanyard ring down, but I can't go back to normal then anymore. I want to keep that option open for now.

So in went the scissors...

As you can see I did shorten the thumb rest.
It would press onto the rivet. And the rivet does stand out ever so slightly.
Some might remember some problems with early Rebar models and these rivets.
Now, the pliers do not touch these rivets.
But the scissors thumb rest would have, so I decided to shorten it.

Sooo.... what's left then?

Here it is. My Rebar +

Cheers,

Matt

I had the chance to use my Loki wrenches a couple of times, I can't believe how tough they are, and how stuck those LM bolts can be.  :ahhh

Sweet mod, Matt!  :tu: How are the scissors?

Thanks Pabs  :salute:

Well, the scissors are from a Wave.
They're good enough for me to do whatever needs scissors.

But may I dare to say.... the Vic scissors are definitively better  :D

Great mod Matt :like: It makes the Rebar so much better than it was before and that is hard to do for this tool as it is already awesome 8) :like:

Nice job, Matt!
I won a custom Rebar in a GAW here some time ago, and the scissors make it so much better for EDC! It lives in my hiking/camping bag with a bit kit. He put in Wave pliers too.
Breezy had also added the bit exchangers to replace dedicated drivers. :)

Pontificating particularly pious positions pertaining to polymorphic paraphernalia. G-Man.

I've also put scissors in my Rebar.  :like:
Would be nice to see it updated like this. The lanyard ring can go on the outside, on the pliers side, like on the PST.

The original lanyard ring is a tad too big for that for my liking. But I could fabric a new one for that space I suppose
Good idea Reamer Punch  :tu:

Any ideas?

I have that for most pics when using 3g on my phone. WiFi does the trick then.
It might be an Imgur thing too

You can extract the direct image urls when clicking onto Quote of my initial post.
Remove the "[/img]" stuff on front and end to have the direct pic link.

Do those work?

Oh yeah, that way I can at least see the links and access the images individually, thanks  :salute:

BTW I didn't know they were hosted on imgur. Apparently the awesomely democratic institutions of my country banned imgur completely and that is the reason I cannot access the pics. Thank god there are ways around  :D
