Some scale swapping led to a Midnite Vagabond
on: May 25, 2018, 10:44:08 PM
I was thinking of how much I like the Midnite Manager, but wanted those scales on my Vagabond, so I went ahead and made the switch.  It would bother me to do this to mint-in-boxed versions, so these were all bought either in a lot or without box.  Thoughts?

Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

Good one!
I really like that cut and picker blade.  If the Manager had it, I wouldn't need the Vagabond.

Thank you kmanct3!
It seems to me that the 58mm scales are more forgiving than the 91mm which tend to leave some particles near the rivets.

I would gladly take the c&p over the file on my Manager, maybe we can get a petition to Vic going.  8)

That is really nice FB!

I do like blue translucent, then a big plus having the light and pen.

I would consider that an option to improve my EDC Vagabond that is just that boring red.

So you just pop off the old and pop on the replacements?

I have NO experience with SAK scale exchanges. TIA

I use one of those watch blades.  It has to be thin.
Just be careful as you pry up.  Some folks suggest warm water first to expand, but I didn't do that.
The scales snapped right onto the other SAK.  Some folks suggest a product called Goop in the rivet holes, but I didn't have to do that either.
SwissBianco shows the process starting at 6:38 in the video

Here's another explanation on scale removal.
