VIC vs Weg Scissors

Ciseaux Wegner vs. Schere Victorinox

Both are definitely good for the small tasks for which they are designed. Anyone used the Wegner design long enough to verify the self-sharpening claims? I lean somewhat towards the Victorinox, for thicker cutting, but for small pock knife scissors no complaints about either one. Curious about the self-sharpening. Would that not be removing blade material, however infinitesimally small, every closing and opening of the scissors??

I don't know about Wegner's scissors but there's some things I really like about Wenger's scissors.

I found this old thread which discussed the same subject : https://forum.multitool.org/index.php?topic=50635.0

I love the spring. I don't mind the slight bobbing that stems from the spring action. I prefer Victorinox's straight edge for most cutting (especially paper) but Wenger's serrated edge is much more durable and fit for other uses which would ruin Vic's straight edge.
When I first heard about Vic buying Wenger, I instantly dreamed about them making a mix of the two, straight edge with a good spring.

Now I know this is not going to happen... I may just have to make my own mod with a pair of each :D

Now about the self-sharpening, I never found any evidence to that nor do I believe it is technically possible. It is possible however that the action may correct small nics and bends in the serrated edge, to some extend; effectively keeping the edge cutting better for longer despite slight damage.

I've been using a Wenger 65mm scissors almost daily for years and never had need to sharpen it.

Here's a test I did between 58mm and 65mm scissors.

They aren't self-sharpening but self-honing thanks to the serated edge, removing small nicks and irregularities.
But how will you explain that to the general public?
Self-sharpening is easier to understand and is somewhat correct.

It’s awl good, they only remove small Nicks, not big Nicks.
If anything, I’m in danger of being removed, I’m smaller than the average man.  ::)
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)
