It's been a while, but yesterday I did actually return to the scene of the crime, armed with my camera, and boy do I have more photos for you guys! :D

So for those of you who don't know, last year, about the same time, I went to check out an abandoned factory over here at my home town.
You can read all about it over here: Smurfing Around with Aleph: The Abandoned Factory

So, without further ado... let's get on with the pics!

At first I checked out what seemed to be an office building:

I mean they just left all the stuff in when the factory was closed, although I suspect all stuff of any worth has been looted by now.

This building seemed to be a machine shop of some kind:

Oh and it's the building I suspected to be a garage on the first thread

These two are from the ground floor of the main factory building:

The place smelled of smoke, and there was quite a few of smashed up beer cans, so I guess it's been used for some partying  :pok:

This is one of the warehouses, still locked up:

There's still pallets full of bags of charcoal, after 18 years!

I think there was another warehouse here, but it has been taken down:

This warehouse was open:

And you can clearly see local kids have been using it as a skate park  :D

The last warehouse was just full of piles and bags of charcoal:

Lastly, some random photos around the factory:

Little sharper pic of the random machinery I saw last time:

Little peek inside a locked side building:

After hearing some cooing I spotted this little fella on the broken window:

Fascinating..........over here there would be nothing left very quickly if there was any public access.....

Pretty sure I could find a lot I would like in that machine shop!  :gimme:

What I find most fascinating is I seem to understand the writing partly, am I translating correctly: Content - Zwaluw (no idea) grill charcoal....or rather the diminutive of coals?

Beats me, it looks like they just left everything at their place.

Of course looters have messed the stuff up afterwards...  :P

Yeah. If it were around here, 2 days after being abandoned it would have been stripped to the bone...

Yep, at the last times the factory was still open they produced charcoal for grills.

There are smurfload of empty paper bags still waiting to be filled with charcoal all over the compound.. Kinda sad, if you ask me

 :salute:

I heard Finnish spoken when UNTAG were in Namibia, sounded very strange, never would've guessed the similarities.

I assume the charcoals were sent all over the world, hence dutch/afrikaans or something similar, Finnish is pretty much like no other language, except Estonian and some Finnic languages in Russia.

A bit of an assumption, but it looks like they ran out of money and went straight into administration. Staff might not have been given the option to return... that's it finished.

Excellent thread Alephy, I find stuff like this absolutely fascinating... sad, but fascinating.  :tu:

+1

That vise and the huge drill press...hurts my heart to see them so abused and unused.

There's another vice there, which I didn't take a pic of, it looked like it was meant for pipes.

Awl that charcoal and paper laying around... isn't that a serious fire hazard?

That vise would have been taken day 1 after abandonment.  >:D  ::) ::)

I spy a sealed copy of Windows ME - the best version of windows to date. Wonder why it wasn't ganked yet.
