Driver fits realy well, but I did feel a slight twist to the handles that I'm not used to.  Did not seem to actualy twist  ant thig as everthing still closes and lines up the same .

(Image removed from quote.)

Very nice pic Douglas :tu:
I assume you did up all these screws with the Rebar?

Just kidding :D - that twist, I think it's not unexpected given the open U cross-section of the handles, except at the lock ends of course where the bridge between the sides is missing. This will flex a little bit as the pivots are only lodged in the handles by what amounts to the 2x the thickness of the sheet from which the handles are pressed, plus the slight give of the handles themselves. Unless you really overdo it, I'd think this should not cause any permanent damage under normal circumstances.

Day 16

It would be nice if, in the course of this challenge, we could pay some attention to secret features of the Rebar.

One such hidden feature is a cap lifter which effectively (by accident, or design, no one knows) has found its way into the Rebar handles. I've already demonstrated its use a few days ago, and will follow up here with detailed instructions (just in case the use was not clear).

The indent on one side of each handle has an edge pointing inwards which can be hooked behind the edge of a bottle cap, and the opposing edge of the handle can then be rested against the top of the cap. You can use this as follows: e.g. by first folding out the opposing handle to 90° as shown below, then extracting all the tools from the handle that is going to contact the cap at least to the extent also shown below (more is safer!), then hooking that handle's indent behind the cap's edge, placing the opposing edge of that handle on top of the cap, keeping the handle on the cap by using e.g. the left thumb, holding the opposing handle firmly e.g. with the right hand, then using it to apply torque to the other handle, thereby twisting the cap off.

The manifest usefulness of this tool has apparently been recognised by Leatherman, since they went to the lengths of providing redundancy by including not one, but TWO cap lifters in every single Rebar :tu: :D
However, the tool appears to have been designed without keeping lefties in mind, since both cap lifters work best when using the right hand to apply torque  :-\.

There is one downside and caveat: you need to extract all the tools from the handle you are using to contact and lift the cap. These tools usually include blades, so be careful when applying the method by keeping your hands, other body parts and/or sensitive objects out of reach of said blades for their full expected extent of swing  :ahhh

Looking forward to finding out about other secret features!

PS - don't mind the non-standard file on this Rebar. This has been purloined from the Wave tool set and duly adapted to fit the Rebar along the lines applicable to the first modded file described here.

Starting off with a simple switch change out.  The pliars are great as are the cutters but just like the Surge the stripper is lacking

I love the scissors on the Pioneer X. Every MT with scissors should have those exact scissors.  :)

Went outside to sit for a few minutes and a weld failed on my favorite chair.

The welding kit is at my Dad's house right now, but I didn't want to risk damaging my chair more by trying to sit in it with the back coming off. Quickly drilled a hole, filed the burr with the Rebar, cut some bailing wire with the Rebar, and tied the broke place up with the Rebar; as a temporary measure, until I can weld it. :)

I must say that the file on the Rebar is very aggressive, but I am getting used to using it properly. Quite a contrast to the PAD in our last challenge.  :ahhh
