Camping? Ranger?

What is the difference between a Vic Ranger and the Vic that says "Camping" (not Camper!) on it? They look the same to me?

No differences except inlaying on scales

Agreed!  I have one Ranger with plain red scales and another with the "Camping" word on it and a little teepee, both Rangers.  I guess Victorinox put those "Camping" scales on Rangers and Campers.  Not sure what else they put them on.
Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

I've seen a Spartan with a stamped "Camping" logo. 1985-91 vintage with grooved corkscrew and awl with eye.

Oh... Maybe "camping" is the name of a series they had a while ago then?

Interesting dating info here: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,72921.0.html

This is awesome info, thank you
Seconded

Spartan, Camper, Ranger... definitely a progression in tools there. But no Huntsman with the logo??

If only to add to the confusion, the Spartan was called the Camper at one time, after Victorinox started naming each model, when was it, in the 60s?

Which seems to have been well before the logo appeared.

I guess we can surmise that in one way or several, camping has played a part in Victorinox's marketing. :P

The inlaid logo is beautiful and it's a pity it was discontinued.

I agree with that.  It really added a lot of personality to the scales!
