Whose name is on your SAK?
« on: June 13, 2018, 04:10:02 PM »
I have purchased a few SAKs with initials and a lot with advertising, but never one with another person's name.
I have "Chip" incoming which gave me the idea for this topic.  I'm thinking of keeping the scales on since I have a spare button shield.
If you have one, please share.
Here's Chip:

I've had 5 or 6 throughout the years, the latest were a Swisschamp or Handyman or Champion (big SAK) with an Eastern European name in it, that I sent to a member here (Exeter, I think)

I also sent a Aitor SAK style knife to Mech :pok:  with a name on the blade  :salute:

and I have a SOG PowerPlier with its (I guess) previous owner's name on the blade John Steffensen or something like that, I don't have the tool at hand now)  :ahhh

My toys:

MTs: Surge (2x), Skeletool CX, Rebar, Blast, Fuse, Micra, Squirt (3x), Wave, Crunch, Mini, Spirit (2x), Pro Scout, MP700 (2x), Diesel, Powerlock, PowerPlier (2x), PocketPowerPlier, Blacktip , ST6 (2x), 5WR, A100

SAKs: Bantam, Executive, Ambassador, Minichamp, Classic Alox, Champion, Farmer, Explorer, Swisschamp, Golf Tool, Wenger Champ, EVO 52, Pocket Tool Chest

I found a Wenger Pocket Toolchest on the bay for a good price.  It has two names on it.
It went for what I thought was a real deal.  I think most people don't wan't some one else name on there stuff.
Did I mention that my own name is Steve? :)

@ThePeacent:

Yes, a SAKstyle knife! :ahhh

And it had a Renault ad on the back so I think "Gesse" is the name of a garage.

I handled that knife yesterday and gave it a new spot on the wall panel.

Holmatro. Given they're known for hydraulic rescue equipment used by fire departments and rescue units worldwide, why a humble Tourist and not a 108 or 111mm model useful for use by emergency services?  I'm guessing it's because the Tourist is one of the cheaper full-size SAKs.

This Mountaineer is the only one I have with a name on it other than a couple of advertising pieces.

Felinevet figured I'd give this knife a good home and sent to me as a gift.

Again, many thanks,

Do initials count? My Pioneer.

Does Victorinox still sell the President versions?

Victorinox never directly sold the Presidential and other political Classics. Instead they were  purchased by various political groups to give away as awards, commemoratives, etc.

I wondered why I never saw them for sale online other than eBay.   Thank you for the information CS.  :tu:

Nice pics jnoxyd! :like: :tu: :tu:

I have a soldier model just like that ......mine came with the Victorinox book The Knife and It's History.

I tried taking a picture of mine, but I have  a cheap camera and the flash on it drowns out the writing on the blade when I try to photograph it.

Kind of a two for one, has the name “Jonathan D Schultz” lightly etched on the blade but I couldn’t get a photo, just too light.  Also my 1st “government(?)” SAK, has “USDAFS” kind of hot stamped into the scale but no ink.  Definitely used, no shelf queen here, but completely functional.  Wonder how many miles this has seen on the back of a Forest Service horse?
