The big question is what will you be carrying tomorrow?  I get so caught up in the challenges that it takes me several days after before I start carrying something else.  I happen to like the PowerLock, but then again, my scissors worked from the start, and I don't have the partially serrated blade.  Congratulations on completing your challenge.

I know what you mean, Alan. But in this case, I'm actually glad to be done with the challenge. I've already stashed the Powerlock in my truck as a potential 'emergency' tool. However, I'm glad to hear your Powerlock works for you.  :tu:

Tomorrow will likely see me carry a SAK and a classic.  :tu:

Wow, so many things going on

A. The knife is justy fine, Nix! If it cuts fine, and doesn't break in your hands while doing it, it's a good knife. If it can retain an edge, be comfortably gripped and hold up to use, it's great. And finally, if it can be carried nicely, look good, then it's excellent!!  :tu:
I like how you put a guard in it, but still managed to put a forward choil in front of it for closer cutting and detailed work  :salute:

B. The Powerlock steel is 420HC for the blade, but IME SOG's 420HC doesn't come close to Leatherman's let alone Buck's steel  ::), it's much closer to the Gerber 420HC they also use on their blades.  :P And if this one was poorly heat treated (which I've had happen in two SOGs, a PPP and a Blacktip ) it's even worse

C. The gear covers do really help in carryability and comfort, I can't tell you how I loathed those gears without covers, both in the sheath and in use!  :ahhh

D. SOG's awls are really good IMO if you don't need to sew with them, and the one in the SOG PP is one of my all time favorites,  while the "Spike" in the Powerlock is good but not nearly as nice as that one

E. The cutters are admittedly soft  >:(, and SOG would really benefit from replaceable cutters especially given the fact that the Compound Leverage "promotes" or "welcomes" using the pliers with more force,  :o apply more pressure and do harder gripping and cutting tasks because it's much easier in the hand to put a lot of force in the jaws thanks to it  8)
My toys:

MTs: Surge (2x), Skeletool CX, Rebar, Blast, Fuse, Micra, Squirt (3x), Wave, Crunch, Mini, Spirit (2x), Pro Scout, MP700 (2x), Diesel, Powerlock, PowerPlier (2x), PocketPowerPlier, Blacktip , ST6 (2x), 5WR, A100

SAKs: Bantam, Executive, Ambassador, Minichamp, Classic Alox, Champion, Farmer, Explorer, Swisschamp, Golf Tool, Wenger Champ, EVO 52, Pocket Tool Chest

Thanks, El P.

You've got more experience with SOG tools than I do. And I expect that will remain true. My SOG experience has convinced me that I'm a Leatherman fan for life.

This was a fun challenge and, really the SOG was a good multitool. It did most everything I asked of it. With a few design tweaks and some improvement in the quality, it could be my favorite, big multitool. Right now, for me, it's just not there.

I can understand why you don’t like SOG Nix :tu:
It’s a great shame that SOG doesn’t take Q/C seriously
As they could make sure that the
tools they put on their MTs work properly
If they sorted the tools out SOG would
be a excellent MT company  :salute:

Congrats RF52.     Maybe you'll still carry the MP on alternate Weekdays, or maybe only on days that end with Y or something like that.

So everyday then I will probably take it to work and see how it holds up against the Legend
