Day 08:

No uses today....so far. I will say that at this point in the challenge I have become quite used to having the Powerlock on my belt. It does not feel as big or heavy to me as a Leatherman ST300.

Maybe that just means I need to do a ST 300 challenge......

I've had similar experiences with SOG MT blade steel. It is about as soft as Vic blade steel. I don't mind though, because like you said, less likely to snap. And, like a SAK, it is crazy easy to sharpen. :)
LM and Gerber blades are not forgiving at all when flexed. I know this the hard way.

Day 09:

Explanation: I was transferring some lentils from a bag to a better storage system (recycled jar). I used the Powerlock's scissors to snip off the corner of the bag, so as to use the clipped corner as a funnel. Scissors (now peened) worked fairly well and cut through 98% of the bag before it folded over. Last 2% was torn off with the bag clamped in the scissors.

Not perfect, but OK-ish.

Are the scissors sharp enough

In my view, nothing is ever sharp enough.

These seem decently sharp, but there is still a hint of wiggle in the scissors, even with my peening. Might be an indication to peen a bit more.

The ST-300 is just a tad thicker than the powerlock.  I've pocket carried both and don't notice much difference in how they carry.  The scissors in my powerlock don't seem to have any issues. They're sharp and tight. I might have just gotten lucky and got the one that was assembled perfectly, right after the coffee break at the factory.

Day 10:

I'm off on a short overnight trip. Of course the Powerlock is coming along. I'll post up any pictures or stories when I get back. Until then, here's a morning glamor shot to tide me over:

Day 11:

Back home now and no significant adventures. I was really happy to see there is still some snow lingering up on the peaks of the taller mountains. Snow is water, and water is life. So snow in July means water in the creeks and streams, and life in the rivers and lakes. And that puts a smile on my face.  :tu:

I did struggle a bit with the scissors again. I'll try to peen them some more in the next day or two. Otherwise, the Powerlock just rode along for the journey. Awlways nice to have a multi close at hand.

Time for a G&T now, so......

Oh, here's another funny thing:

SOG sent me a second Powerlock with scissors. I'm not sure how that happened. Maybe when I returned my PowerAccess Deluxe it triggered an exchange that resulted in my being sent a second Powerlock (w/scissors).

As a result of this fiasco I'll be doing a GAW of a NIB Powerlock with Scissors at the end of this challenge. I'm going to keep this GAW quiet and just limit it to those MTO'ers who comment in this thread. So, if you've commented here already, you are in. If you would rather not have a NIB Powerlock, don't comment in this thread. If you want to give a Powerlock with scissors a try, make at least one post in this thread: anything from a popcorn smiley to a lengthy discourse on your love of SOG Powerlocks. No need to keep a list, I'll figure it out at the end of the challenge.

This has just been too funny.     :multi:

If you break your current PL, you won't need to send it in for replacement.  :like:

Not sure how I feel about them sending two PLs out though. Only because it seems as if one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. That sort of thing ends up costing the consumers from what I've seen. One of the possible reasons SOG's MTs are more expensive than the U.S.A made LMs and Gerbers(in general regarding staple-models).
It worked out since the PAD was quite a bit more expensive than a PL though. Definitely got your money's worth.

wow, two PL! Are they identical in toolset Nix? ???  And are the scissors in this one better?

My current dented PL has no SOG tools other than the openers,  ::) and my second PL which had another modded toolset was the one stolen in August 2017   but that one was the SOG with crappy SOG scissors in it so I'd rather keep the one I was able to keep  :D

but the stolen one had the great 1/4 driver and pristine jaws unlike this one I currently have  :P

Yes, same tool set as my current PL.

But I've left in NIB for the GAW, so I don't know if the scissors are any better or not.

My reaction as well.  :-\

But, they did make sure I got a replacement.   8)

Day 12:

Changing up my carry today.

Powerlock as awlways, but I'm adding a back-up can opener in the form of a Wenger Adventurer generously gifted to me by El Peacent. (Thanks, El P! :hatsoff:)

I'm expecting a quiet day, but it's 4th of July here in the states, and one never knows when a picnic will break out. Best to be prepared with plenty of cap-lifters and can-openers.  :D

I've been changing 8' T12 light bulbs all day. So a quiet 4th for me as well, especially when I smash the blown ones in the dumpster. :D

Day 12 (continued):

4th of July, and you guys know I'm going to do it right. So.....we've got baseball on the radio and bratwursts on the grill......

And to go with that, we need coleslaw and beans. Check.

Can opener worked well. No complaints here. And the beans were tasty.

No barbecue is complete without a nice brew. Check.

No issues with the can opener, either. It seems the Powerlock was made for Independence Day.  :tu:

Hope y'awl had a good 4th of July!
