Is buying off amazon safe?

I know there is a lot of talk in the spyderco and benchmade community of counterfeit products being sold through amazon. I’m looking to buy a bantam and no local places have one. Should I be concerned if I buy off of amazon?

I can’t imagine getting a counterfeit Victorinox from amazon.

The only fake (rather than a cheap copy) of a SAK I know of is the Rescue Tool. A Bantam should be just fine - but maybe to be on the safe side, buy from Amazon directly rather than a 3rd party seller.

I think you’d be safe buying a bantam. They aren’t really worth the time and effort to copy

Please note that this doesn’t mean that they’re bad tools.

Bantams are great, really hard to copy though.
The Chinese like copying bad tools that are easy to make.

I think the only concern is when some shady person buys one, switches it with a fake and then returns it and they resell it. I read about that, but not sure it's even true, still, it's probably rare.
