Non paint marring suspension clips
on: January 14, 2018, 11:55:25 PM
I am wondering why no one has come up with some suspension clips made from a sturdy Delrin nylon?

They use “blades” made from it at work to cut the wrap guard they put on the new cars’ trunks and hoods. Does not mar the paint any.

Seems like an ideal material for pocket and suspension clips??

That’s sounds like a good suggestion. Seems like something that could be 3D printed fairly easy. But I don’t know for sure.

I used to have a couple made of kydex.  I'll try to google it and see if the guy still makes them.

Edit: I thought you could select getting it printed in some kind of plastic, but it seems it is metal only. Ah, well.

The kydex idea is pretty neat, imo. Last few months, have been using the increasingly popular paracord clip as well.

It took me about 15 minutes to prototype one out of PVC. I should have made it out of a wider ring, but it still seems pretty darn sturdy, and the clip has good spring to it.

I'm thinking about opening a company called 'GarbageTech'. :D

Going to have to try my hand at that soon. Had a bit of a heated disagreement with someone at the plant concerning my pocket clip. Even though the person knows I have been carrying a knife or tool for years like that.

Have my paracord clip on tonight but I don’t like it that much. Too weak.

I stumbled across one online but can’t find it now. A German (I think) website was selling them. Wish I had saved the site!!

I never have tried the PVC thing yet. Need to do that!!

I’m using this little plastic clip and while it works, it does fall into my pocket far too often.

I have found a 3D print file for a clip. If anyone wants to try to print it you can find it at Thingiverse under EDC Suspension Clip...

I found the ones below on Facebook.

I have ordered a few from a man in Germany named Dirk Hofmeister. They are glow in the dark and his prices were excellent.

I’ll update when they get here. 2 of them, delivered from Germany, for $13.00

One place I tried to have print the one from Thingiverse wanted waaay too much for one. $20 or so.
