The cost of a soldier

I don't know if anyone has done this yet but according to Vics website the Military contract for the new Soldier is 75000 knives and sheaths costing CHF 1.38 million How much oes this work out per unit in U.S $ ?

1380000 Swiss Francs for 75000 knives = 18.4CHF = $15.34 I think :)

Group buy ?  Just need another 74000 members and it could happen . Makes you realise just how little these things cost to make . Although I doubt Vic are making much if anything on them .

If that was a us contract I garrentee the cost per unit would skyrocket to 400-500$ a unit.

Didn't rather alot of U.S Security companies get rich quick in Iraq that way ?

You bet there are so many screw ups in our budgeting for stuff. And remember we only award Govt. Contracts to low bidders.

I suspect the civilian price will be about $40.-$50. retail and will be available for about $35. or so.
