Chuck Yeager Challenge, Day 20 :

This shot needs a little story........





I'm cat-sitting for the neighbors' cat, Max. He's an easy going cat, and pretty simple to take care of, however, he does like his food.

I don't have a key to his place, but I've got the code to the garage door.

I go over to open the garage door....and nothing. At first I think I've got the code wrong..but I've used the same code for the past several days. Then it occurs to me that the battery might be low. The lights on the keypad light up, but maybe the signal is weak?

Out comes the nail file, and I pry the keypad battery-cover open. With a new battery, the garage door is working again and Max gets his food. Not that he didn't tell me I was late.

I would have preferred a full-size Vic opener for this task, but the Exec's nail file did just fine. And now Max is an Executive fan, too.  :tu:

Using EDC items randomly selected with a poker hand, post a photo of your EDC or a component of the EDC that got used during the course of the day for 4 weeks (or 30 consecutive days) Participate  in Challenge thread and post a photo of your EDC or a component of the EDC that got used during the course of the day for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate  in a Challenge thread and post a photo of a Leatherman Skeletool for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate and contribute in Challenge thread and post a photo of either an Axe, MT/Folding knife or Fixed blade (picked at the beginning of challenge) for thirty (30) consecutive days. During these warmer/hot months, the Executive is unquestionably the best fit for size and function.  The Explorer and the Swiss Champ are among my favorite SAKs but there is no way that they would fit comfortably in the pockets of my gym shorts.

My two most-used tools are the blade and the scissors and the Executive has both. I doubt that I will ever use the Orange Peeler for its intended purpose but it is perfect for opening stubborn plastic packaging.

I don't like the nail file since it is prone to staining.  I would much rather have the Cadet's nail file for filing nails or the Leatherman Squirt's file for general purpose filing.

The Executive is a truly fine Swiss Army Knife that punches way above its weight and is a pleasure to carry as an EDC!

Second, the Executive has proven itself over and over as an everyday pocket tool, although I share one picture a day, it's in and out of my pocket all day, it's just not practical to take a picture every time.
The 74mm I find is a much better fit in my hand over the Classic, the blades are plenty adequate for a pocket knife, the Orange peeler is a lot more useful than I thought, I seem to be a bit in the minority on the file, but I like the cut on it, I love the size of the scissors, small enough for finer work, yet big enough for larger tasks, and I use the scale tools all the time.

So after all that the Executive is a hit with me  :cheers:

I just need to make a sheath/pouch for the Executive/Director to carry them in a more confortable/protected/efficient way.

I'm cat-sitting for the neighbors' cat, Max. He's an easy going cat, and pretty simple to take care of, however, he does like his food.

I don't have a key to his place, but I've got the code to the garage door.

I go over to open the garage door....and nothing. At first I think I've got the code wrong..but I've used the same code for the past several days. Then it occurs to me that the battery might be low. The lights on the keypad light up, but maybe the signal is weak?

Out comes the nail file, and I pry the keypad battery-cover open. With a new battery, the garage door is working again and Max gets his food. Not that he didn't tell me I was late.

I would have preferred a full-size Vic opener for this task, but the Exec's nail file did just fine. And now Max is an Executive fan, too.  :tu:

Participate in a challenge by carrying  a GEC knife and post a photo of it  for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread and post a photo daily of any SAK 74mm or smaller ( you can switch it up daily ) for thirty (30) consecutive days. Build your own version of an MRE using off-the-shelf components, post a photo of the completed MRE and store at room temperature for 6 days or more. Consume the MRE after the storage period and post pictures and descriptions of the contents. Participate  in Challenge thread and post a photo of a Farmer X SAK for thirty (30) consecutive days. Using EDC items randomly selected with a poker hand, post a photo of your EDC or a component of the EDC that got used during the course of the day for 4 weeks (or 30 consecutive days) Participate  in Challenge thread and post a photo of your EDC or a component of the EDC that got used during the course of the day for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate  in a Challenge thread and post a photo of a Leatherman Skeletool for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate and contribute in Challenge thread and post a photo of either an Axe, MT/Folding knife or Fixed blade (picked at the beginning of challenge) for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate in a Challenge thread and post a photo of a Spyderco knife for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate and contribute in Challenge thread and post a photo of a different blade each day for thirty (30) consecutive days. Participate  in Challenge thread and post a photo of a SAK Soldier for thirty (30) consecutive days. Start a new thread and post a photo of the multitool for thirty (30) consecutive days.
