I too enjoy reading the posts, and I'm finding the same thing, that the executive is a fine edc pocket knife for modern urban/suburban life. It slices, snips, and screws and files.  :tu:
Don't get too serious, just enough will do.

I used the nail file on my fingernails.

Here is a pic of my red Executive next to the black Executive that was my dad's favorite pocket knife.

I saw the post about you not participating because you only had a horn Executive that was too special for EDC.  I wish I had known in time so that I could have sent you an Executive.

My Dad was a pilot, flying corporate birds from Piper Aztecs to DC-3s, and never carried anything more than a pen knife until the PST came out.  I can honestly see him loving the Executive.  I'm finding it fits what I need most of the time.

No worries NorCal and thank you for your concern.  I am happy to be watching from the sidelines.
I jumped on an 84mm challenge that member Syem has going, so it all worked out.  :tu:

That 84mm challenge is extraordinary!  The CYC II challenge is my first challenge.  I prefer enjoying the challenges from the sidelines.

Chuck Yeager Challenge, Day 11 :

In my last challenge, the one with the SOG Powerlock, I was given orders by Mrs Nix to trap out a family of Chipmunks. She initially thought they were cute, but when they started burrowing under the patio they incurred Mrs Nix's ire.

During the Powerlock challenge I managed to trap and release four (4) of the critters. However, we had seen a fifth rascal and knew he might be around. Well, sure enough, Mrs Nix saw him two days ago and told me I had to trap this last (?) chipmunk (before we have some repairs made to the patio tomorrow!).

With some wily use of peanut butter and a trap, I caught my prey at noon today. I took him about 10 miles away to a nice spot in the woods, next to a creek. Lovely spot.

He didn't seemed pleased.

As I was setting up to get a shot of the irate rodent, the gate of the trap popped open and he was out in a flash.....!

A bit to his surprise, he ended up falling in the creek. Well, necessity being the mother of virtue, he went ahead and swam the creek! He proved to be a good swimmer (just as well, he needed to wash some of the peanut butter off his fur.) and made it to the other side. He then scampered under that big boulder you can see on the far bank.

I had to chuckle a bit as he looked like a drowned rat climbing out of the water. I figured he was long gone, but he popped back out and took account of his circumstances (or maybe just to give me the stink-eye.).

He's a little blurry here but you can spot him just to the right of the boulder (circled in blue). He groomed himself for a couple moments and then went off exploring. It was a hot day, and I'm not sorry he got a bath and a cool down.

Hopefully he doesn't find his way back!

Uh.....it was in my pocket.....

(Edit: this was a response to Ron's insightful question (now edited out) about how the Executive featured in the chipmunk story.)

OK, new story: I realized I needed some way to convey a sense of scale in the picture. Desperate for some familiar object to use to provide scale, I dug into my pockets and found my trusty and familiar Executive. I had my scale object and the photo was saved.

Yeah, that's it...... ;)

I thought as much. I removed the question because the Executive was in the pic, if not in the story.   :D

Day 11

Today I have prepared a melon. It's a big fruit, but the pulp is only on the external side, the inner is full of seeds. The leght of the blade is sufficient to cut in half the melon and slice it.

Two thoughts here Nix

[a] I'm sensing you're more on Wile E Chipmunks side than Mrs Nix in this one

b] Surely the chipmunk was just sticking around to see how CYC2 goes?
