First attempts at paracord lanyards
on: July 17, 2018, 06:20:10 AM
I have always found paracord lanyards attractive. I also like seeing neat knot methods. I have no skill with knots, but wanted to try a couple of lanyards. The lanyard on the blue MT was one I made a while back and hadn't messed with paracord since. It is very crude, but it does the job. Helping me quickly locate my MT when I lay it down somewhere. :ahhh

Tonight I tried something different. I got the idea of having a marble in the paracord(after watching the science channel) at the end and figured I'd give it a go. I used superglue to stiffen the paracord at the end with the marble. I used a rudimentary spiraling pattern from the ring (and later s-biner). The orange paracord is the easiest color for me to find at a glance. Tied it up as neatly as I could and terminated with one end flattened inside the last knot and the end from the marble tucked in at an angle.
I will try and work on this design in the future. Hopefully I can make it a bit more cleanly finished at some point.

This will be a welcomed addition to the BO Rebar (for the Rebar challenge), as I have to look around a bit to find it on my work benches and work surfaces. Now it will be hard to miss. :)

You do have skill with knots, friend, you just don't realize it yet. They aren't difficult to learn to tie, it just takes practice like any other skill worth learning.

Thank yoi, magentus!
The marble has some sentimental value. It came from a jar of marble that have been on my family for generations. :)

Stormdrane puts out good stuff on YouTube. Don't be afraid to pause the video or rewind- sometimes the knot isn't intuitive, but you will get it once you get some practice with it.

This!

 :tu: :tu:

Pretty good start. Look for instructions on the Monkey Fist. Remember, you can undo the knot if it doesn't feel/look like what you're seeing in the video. Restart as many times as needed.

Let us know how it worked.
