Has any keychain tool ever topped the micra?

Thoughts?

Increasingly I'd say "no".

My vote is for the Squirt P4.  Hands down the best keychain tool.............  Uh wait.   The Manager is pretty spectacular.   Hmm

I like the Squirts and Styles plenty but for old school goodness the Micra reigns supreme to me :salute:

My EDC is (and has been for years) a Squirt P4.  I don't seem to need scissors much away from home, but I do use the P4 pliers often.

As is usual in matters of opinion, personal preferences and needs drive choices, so different people can vary in their thoughts about which is best, but all can be "right".

Squirt P4. Better tools, pliers rather than those scissors.
Squirt E4. Unique tool set. Not better generally, but works very well.
Vic Manager. Completely different tool set, but the very best scissors in this size class.

Leatherman, in my experience, can't make scissors to save their life. The Micra is big enough to be called shears, but not strong enough, while being too big to do delicate work. And we've seen too many issues with the ps4 and es4's scissors

Yes, that's it!
The Micra has the classic nostalgia look going for it, but ironraven nailed it with the shears description.
That's the word that fits the " scissors" on my 1999 Micra.
Cuts crudely, no fine cutting ( mustache) ability for the most part.
Plus the inside tools access is a bit fiddlely with a small tool IMO.
I try to really like my Micra more,   but in the end , the PS4 or even my  Gerber Dime wins the watch pocket competition.
Small pliers win out over the shears.
With a keychain Rambler I'm covered.
That said, I can't seem to gift the Micra  away ?

I would say no. I know a lot of fishermen locally who swear by the Micra--but I don't know of anyone carrying a Squirt.

After some thought and real world carry time, my Manager is king of all keychain tools I own and carry.  I pocket carry my Squirt P4 tho quite a bit.

SOG CrossGrip(a bit expensive, because discontinued and hard to find) and Vic Classic.  :tu:

Keep in mind, I don't believe any keychain tools are particularly useful, but if you got stuck needing some bare essentials(as far as reasonable capability is concerned), those two would be excellent. IMHO of course. :salute:

I may sound crazy, and 9 out of 10 doctors would agree, but the Style PS is the end all be all for my keychain sized tool needs. Plus it has the added advantage of being allowed in any secure building that does not allow blades or on flights. Obviously the guys and gals checking your stuff could give you a issue if they aren’t knowledgeable about those things but in all the years I’ve had a Style PS and all the flights, courthouses, and  ballparks I have been in not one has ever even questioned me about it. Not once.

Hi Capt.  Thats great to hear.  I sure do like the looks of both LM Styles.  I have the Cs and have tried to carry it vs my Squirt but no go for me.  I'll have to get around to getting a PS so I can take it for a spin.

Hmmmm, I'll have to test my Micra "shears" on some fishing line on various test strengths.

Thanks to Ironraven's comment I now have reclassified the Micra as folding shears.
So with that, I won't be disappointed anymore, that the formerly known as " scissors" are kind of limited.

My quest towards the best keychain multitool started with the sak rally, than the minichamp, than micra and finally the squirt ps4, and from my point of view and my needs the squirt ps4 is way better although i have to admit that the Micra had those excelent tweezers .
For me, an easy to use and easy access to main blade and scissor is a must. Longish philips screwdriver is desired (for remotes and other electrical stuff around the house). Tweezers that can be used for grose things are welcome (sak tweezers are BS) and also a ballpoint pen. If you throw File, bottle opener you got me ;)

I do admire the Micra, but my go-to EDC is a Wenger Pocket Tool Chest, unfortunately now discontinued.
