Minichamp in cabin luggage?
on: July 22, 2018, 11:26:47 AM
Hi everyone,

has anyone successfully carried a minichamp in a plane in Europe?

Since several years it should be possible to carry a SAK if the blade length is less than 6cm. But does this really work?

AFAIK, there is an EC regulations, knives with a blade length of less than 6 cm are allowed in the hand baggage (cabin luggage), but really it's depends on the airport (for example, in the Zurich airport it's seems to be OK, but see below).

But in a flyer "Information for your safety" is stated:
Quote
Sharp objects (e.g. knives and scissors) with a blade length of under 6 cm are permitted in hand baggage. However, since some airports have stricter rules, we recommend you transport such goods in checked luggage.

And in the Zurich airport there is a funny box (there even a Swiss Card is shown as a prohibited item):

Schiphol Airport (Netherlands): Although EC air safety regulations permits you to have knives with blades under 6 cm in length on board of an airplane, security personnel with not allow you to take them with you. Schiphol regulation state that the decision is up to the security officer at the gate, WITHOUT possibility for the traveler to appeal.

In Zurich airport I like one special thing: there is a Victorinox shop, located in the Duty-Free zone, already after the security check.
And if you fly directly to your final destination, you can buy there any Victorinox knife. Very useful feature!

Yes.
