Those look

Is that a tactile turn pen?
Yes, in zirconium. The SAK is from Robert Jessard.

Both very nice! :tu:

This may or may not have been a topic talked about already.
So if you could have only one SAK with 2 or less layers, no MTs or folders to complement it, what would it be?
For me it's the Serrated Wenger Highlander. I do get the usefulness of the corkscrew but it came down to the fact that I'm a Wenger fanboy, and I gotta go with a model with a Phillips.
(Plus to me a combo edge is ideal for most EDC cutting tasks)
So what's your trusty 1-2 layer?

Well, my most and farmost will always be the trusty small Tinker. Rotating from time to time with a Tourist or Sportsman.
I've also chopped that darn keyring out of mine, best thing i ever did  :D

That along with the alox Classic on my keys, and my driver bit system on my coin pouch is all i need for 95% of EDC situations.

That I have?

93mm: Soldier/Pioneer - for general sturdiness and awl.
91mm: Spartan - for corkscrew to hold mini SD, and eventualities requiring scale tools.
84mm: Sportsman - as per Spartan, plus multipurpose nail file. I can do without the small blade.
58mm: Rambler - for the combo tool and for always being there, as I'm almost never without my keyring.

Cheating a little, I know! :P I really can't decide.

OK. Right now, the Rambler wins... :ahhh
Rambler

I would go with the Pioneer, preferably an older one. The 93mm Soldier has been trusted as a basic tool for military forces worldwide for nearly 70 years.

Yes, the Compact is a wonderful choice!  I especially like the scissors, which is why I would choose it over the better build of the Pioneer (along with the extra tools--pick, tweezers & pen).

 :climber:

For me, it's the Compact.  Any mod that I have made always starts with the Compact in mind and built up from there.

for me it's a standard red tinker; never without it. Best knife ever made (at least for me).

Trust? I'm not sure I trust one more than any other. None have let me down. If I owned a knife I didn't trust, I wouldn't own it for very long.

Which one or two layer knife would I carry without accompaniment? None. That would be like leaving the house with only one shoe on.

Took a few pics for fun. '54, '84, '93, '03 Soldiers.

You can see the difference in the thickness of the tools, especially the post 93 caplifter.

Check that, this one instead. If I were not comitted to having at least one locking blade with me at all times I would go Pioneer for sure.

Most days this is in my pocket. It’s a mod I did on a bantam and added scissors from a Wenger. I know if probably several levels of blasphemy but I like it. I may add a back side Phillips.

Going to throw my vote in behind the Compact/84mmGolfer/Voyageur.

I EDC'd a Compact for the better part of a decade before finally getting my hands on a like-new Voyageur.

Hard to beat a Blade, Scissors, and Combo tool for general everyday use.

Long long ago I carried a Small Tinker but having easy access to scissors was just too nice to pass up.

Now if only they would bring back the 84mm scissors... a Small Super Tinker(Salesman/Climber) would be neato.

Lol, im the same mate don't worry
I'm even carrying a Climber and Compact cause i can't decide on one over the other right now... Cause I'm in a 91mm and scissors phase...

But given the chance between a Spartan/Tinker ill always go for the Small Tinker/Tourist/Sportsman :D

I frequently carry a Compact or a Soldier/Pioneer and more rarely a Safari Solo Plus.  I suppose if I had to choose my "most trusted" among those, it would be the Soldier/Pioneer.  I prefer an ALOX Soldier/Pioneer with unpolished tools, bail and scraper edge on the caplifter, but those aren't requirements.  Lately I've been carrying a red OC Pioneer w/Elinox tang stamp and bail that I bought from gustophersmob, and it certainly has my full trust.

Other 2-layers I've carried regularly in the past:

Cadet
Cadet II
Golfer

Victorinox yeoman seems like the ultimate small sak to me. But you can't buy them anymore. You could make them by combining a victorinox explorer magnifying glass (https://amzn.to/2EJQy1y)  +  victorinox compact bottle/can opener (https://amzn.to/2qd4F5h). This is on my to mod list. Would be awesome with some brass scales.

For me it has to be a Spartan in my pocket.  Does what a knife is suposed to do, cut stuff.  Also has tin, bottle opener and cork screw, lifes necessities covered in one small package.
