This may or may not have been a topic talked about already. So if you could have only one SAK with 2 or less layers, no MTs or folders to complement it, what would it be? For me it's the Serrated Wenger Highlander. I do get the usefulness of the corkscrew but it came down to the fact that I'm a Wenger fanboy, and I gotta go with a model with a Phillips. (Plus to me a combo edge is ideal for most EDC cutting tasks)So what's your trusty 1-2 layer?
For me, it's the Compact. Any mod that I have made always starts with the Compact in mind and built up from there.
The original, thicker blades, all that I need! My 1951 Soldier from ‘56.
Took a few pics for fun. '54, '84, '93, '03 Soldiers. You can see the difference in the thickness of the tools, especially the post 93 caplifter.
Most days this is in my pocket. It’s a mod I did on a bantam and added scissors from a Wenger. I know if probably several levels of blasphemy but I like it. I may add a back side Phillips.
Wow I posted this a while back, and put "Spartan for me!" Not realizing it was my post lol just shows how your main choice changes through time...for example now my Small Tinker is my go to 2 layer because my Spartan is missing
I frequently carry a Compact or a Soldier/Pioneer and more rarely a Safari Solo Plus. I suppose if I had to choose my "most trusted" among those, it would be the Soldier/Pioneer. I prefer an ALOX Soldier/Pioneer with unpolished tools, bail and scraper edge on the caplifter, but those aren't requirements. Lately I've been carrying a red OC Pioneer w/Elinox tang stamp and bail that I bought from gustophersmob, and it certainly has my full trust.Other 2-layers I've carried regularly in the past:CadetCadet IIGolfer
