Number of different models = Chako.
Chako has tons of variants, but also has a ton of unique models.

Variant collecting? I have no idea. That gets complicated. Some collectors will have 30 different unique models of LMs and some will have 30 of the same model (variant focus).

My bet would be with loki-mobile as well but I may be wrong :D Also Bob (J-sews) has a very sizable collection of most all MTs :ahhh but I haven't seen any collection pics in a good while  :ahhh Chako is also in the mix though ;)

As GLM says, it depends on how you interpret "most complete".  I doubt that I have anywhere near the treasure the speSmurfpillst LM collectors have (but I do have some PST variants & a few other brands of MTs as well).  It is quite possible there are some other collectors around that don't tell us about their amazing collections as they prefer to keep it quiet.

Yeah...I know I am the collector who is the freest with sharing collection photos. I have strongly believed that there are members of here with larger collections. J-sews is the one member on here that got me to really start collecting after seeing a photo of his Gerber collection on MT.O. I would love to see other large collections...but I know many collectors are private, secretive, or just do not want to share photos for their own reasons.

As for Leatherman, I currently have 300+ with very few duplicates (I haven't counted them lately but if I had to guess...roughy around 330). I am a generalist collector and will collect variants...but that was never my focus. I can say that I do not have a gold PST, nor do I have any of those camo Juices that hail from Australia. I do have 3 Leatherman prototypes though. I can also say I haven't added any of the newer stuff either, albeit I do have all of their one piece tools.

I can later.

I have a Z-REX given to me by a former Leatherman employee after giving her some Leatherman art that I had made. Last I heard, it was hanging in the Leatherman office somewhere...that is unless she took it with her when she left.

The other two are black Charges using a DLC coating. One has Demascus blades. These 2 would date to around 2009 when Leatherman produced their Demascus Wave. I bought them both on eBay. When I realized what they were, I contacted Leatherman. They told me that these were stolen and that they were ok with me having them. There was only 1 of the Demascus Charge ever produced as a concept, and 2 of the other Charges. Leatherman at the time played with the thought of offering a more upscale Charge.

Here is the Z-REX. The final product is the one on the top. There are plenty of Z-REX prototypes floating around...some are rather more crude than the one I have. I might be mistaken, but I believe this one was the version prior to the final product...but I could be totally wrong on that. For all I know, this might just be production series 1 and series 2, and not a prototype. Maybe someone on here could fill me in on that.

And another run through the Leatherman part of my collection.

Top of tool chest. For the keen of eye...yes, that is a new Victorinox AutoTool in sheath. I just didn't have anywhere else to store it.


Next drawer down are all the smaller plier based pocket tools. In here are a few variations, and a few factory errors.


Down one level, Skeletools, Sidekicks and Wingmans among other models.


The heavy hitters of the Leatherman fold.


Next, Charges and a few other odds and ends.


Here you will see all the different Kicks, Fuses, and Blasts, as well as Waves, Crunch and Leaps. In case you are wondering why I have two sets of Leaps. One is a before recall set which can be identified by a different series of notches on the blade.


Next level down, PST/PST II along with Juices, and a few other models.


These next drawers are in the base cabinet. The first shows a few Leatherman kits still in boxes under a Chinese Olympic Victorinox knife set.


The next drawer down is a sort of grab bag of Leatherman items. Once again I have a few non Leatherman stuff in here as I have sort of ran out of room to store them elsewhere. Mostly Leatherman sheats, a few are limited editions sold only at the Factory store in Oregon. There is a Sidekick NIB along with a tread, and a few cheated Leathermans that I EDC...a knifeless Fuse, a Core, and a Wave.


Next level down are a few more boxed sets. The second tread resides here.


Next up are the various Leatherman pocket tool models.


I also have this Leatherman display case. Inside are a few Micras, a Juice Pro, a Super Tool 200, a BO Wave, and a Camo Surge, along with a nice assortment of Leatherman merchandise and two related pocket lights.






So there you have it, my Leatherman section. Not in the photo as I had to remove them for the photos is a Leatherman banner and counter top mat. Forgot to add that I also have another MUT that I EDC with my range bag, or wear when I am motorcycling.

Wonderful collection Chako.  Always great you are so willing to share pictures.  I know there are some who prefer not to and thats totally fine too.  I bet there are collectors who aren't on this site who have some worthy collections.

Aloha is right though, it is great that you share pics of your collection :salute: If it didn't take so long I would try and make more pics myself and if work ever slows a bit I hope to be able to share mine as well :cheers: I have taken a few pics but of course it is nothing compared to yours :ahhh
