Question: does Bill have any special dietary restrictions?

Seems he must have been living on oats for a long while now........can he eat beef or tacos?

As long as you introduce different foodstuffs gradually, anything goes really.

I asked Bill what his favourite type of salty porridge is and he said he likes the one with the vitamin tablets sprinkled in it so he doesn't get ricketts or scurvy.

I am pleased to know that old Bill is being open minded. After all, is that what travel is supposed to do? Expose us to new sights, sounds, flavors, and ideas?

Still I think I'll steer him away from 'Rocky Mountain Oysters' as they are called here. Best not to alarm him, I think. I do want him to leave the USA with a positive impression, at least as far as is possible.

Maybe I'll see if I can tempt him with a simple burger.....

I'm not a stickler for paperwork. I've awlways loathed the stuff myself. But I wonder if Bill has a passport?

I doubt he's needed one, living, as he has, on the U-boat. Still, it might be nice for him to have some sort of document of his travels. I wouldn't mind making the necessary marks in his paperwork to get him past the casually curious official, if that might help.

Due to the shall we say, 'interesting' pasts that led the majority of the crew to the U Boat, we figured the best way for Bill to travel would involve him skirting under the radar safely secured in a parcel rather than going through the usual channels.  Any paperwork on offer is helpful in case of discovery.  Thanks  :salute:

This area has a history of people entering and leaving by U-boat, and none of them brought any paperwork with them. That said, a parcel might be even better - they've never caught anyone arriving in parcels so far.

If he had only seen how they handle the parcels here.. I never thought it was to discourage human smuggling, but I'm sure they'll use that as a reason if they think of it.

So...even life on a normal U-boat can be pretty strange. There is no sunlight, the air is recycled, and the work schedule is unending. And sleep patterns are often disrupted as crews are working 6 or 4 hours shifts around the clock.

Tell us, Mags, does Medical Bill have any particular or peculiar sleep habits? Does he nap? Is he a night owl? Is he afraid of the dark? Does he need a nightlight? Will special background music help him sleep better?

The crew are grateful Nix - we are fond of Bill and want to feel that he's being well looked after (take note Eamo).

Regarding bed times, Bill likes a cup of salty porridge before getting into his pj's, then he has fifteen minutes on the radio (mainly he just says 'Breaker Breaker' into the handset), and then it's story time. His favourite tales involve seeing the sun, eating something other than salty porridge, and baby goats having adventures. Then he likes to be sung to - Anything by Black Sabbath, but particular favourites are 'Children of the Sea', 'Into the Void' and 'War Pigs'.

Bedtime is usually around 8pm (though we have no real way of telling the time while submerged) - Bill runs around with a balloon until we decide he should go to bed.

I'm going to start Bill off on his adventure tomorrow I think. He should be launched from Torpedo Tube Number 1 as we approach land.

Ummm, Yes! He's lived his life aboard a tube - he only knows how to get from one end of a tube to the other - it's a kind of 2D existence. He'll need you with him at all times in the 3D world Pabs. Don't Eamo this entire trip please.
