KVD Long Nose Professional Fishing Multi Tool

I have several cheap fishing tools laying about, but none that really stand out. Well, except this one. The KVD Professional Fishing Multi Tool
It has it all. Long well-formed fish scaler/aggressive file/hook remover, fairly well-shaped can opener, short PE scraper blade, shortish SE blade for rope, long & thin well-made wood saw (designed not to get stuck at all), decent PE clip blade, decently ground flat-head driver (medium)/bottle opener, very well-formed phillips driver, and three-blade fold-out measuring device (6.25" on one side and 16cm on the other side). The tool is 4.75"(120mm) long closed and 7.75"(197mm) long opened. The pliers are well formed and have several fishing-related features and decent near-flush side-cutters. Needle nose are nice and long. Perfect for getting fish hooks out. Different sized weight crimpers. And a small bolt-grabber portion.
I don't go fishing as often as I would like to, but I have never needed anything quite as fancy as the KVD. But, I think it will live in my tackle box from now on.

If the fishscaler should go on a tool, it's this one!
Nice ruler too!

Indeed! The KVD fish scaler is the best one I've seen on an MT!
The ruler is something I've only seen on a few MTs.

A saw's handy to have, especially if you have a habit of getting your line stuck in a tree like I do
This has quite a few things on it I deem necessary for the outdoors, a saw, a serrated blade (primarily used for vines and thin green wood that quickly clogs a saw, but also rope), and a wire cutter. Add that to it's fishing specific features and drivers, and I feel you've got a perfect tackle box tool. I currently have a Gerber Mr. Pinchy with the head out of a Winchester Fishing Tool (because its components were cheap steel) in my tackle box (along with a pair of scalers, a cheapie lockback, nail clippers (that are made for fishing, and have a hook remover, pick, and can/bottle opener on them), and cheap fishing pliers and line cutters), but I'm thinking about replacing it with that. They're pretty cheap at Walmart. And, most of the fish I end up catching probably would fit within the parameters of that fold-out ruler (which the only other tool I've seen with it is a cheapie made for John Deere).
One thing's unusually missing, and that's a diamond file. Most fishing tools tend to have the things (and if not that, a carborundum stone in place of where the shield normally would be on a knife) either on the tool itself, or as a little stone that slips into the sheath.

Hey. For the price, the KVD has a good deal going on with it. I don't know how well it will hold up, but I like the fact the pliers have an external spring(that can be popped out at anytime). Internal pivot springs seem to really weaken the plier heads on cheaper tools.
I wonder if a removable surge saw could be thrown in the sheath with it. I like having a separates file anyway.
If the KVD saw is heat treated well, the shape should be perfect for small branches. Quite an interesting saw shape as well.

I think you do! I saw something with the same handle shape and inner curve in one of your miscellaneous drawers. It was a different color, but it was the same handle and shape.
I think it was your 2016 collection thread I saw it in.
It would be much appreciated to see if it is the same exact tool(different color) or has different implements.

I buy cheap tools because I keep thinking one day I will discover some innovation that fulfills a need, but the closest I have seen is the serrated wrench / can opener blade on the Aitor SAK-alikes. Ganzo has pretty good quality, but I have been disappointed more often than not, and usually as soon as I opened the package, so I don't keep very many cheap tools. As for this one, I really like the color and given the option it would be preferable to drop that overboard rather than an expensive Leatherman, but that's the best thing I can say about it.

Now if you are aiming for something truely unique, you will need a Super Fisherman by John Benzen.
Check it out in the following link.

Thanks for posting the Lustra "Give Your Car a Hug" MT! The branding is really neat.
Super Fisherman? That thing is awesome, Chako. I couldn't find one on ebay though.
Thank you for sharing that one!
I'll keep an eye out for one.
