Thanks for the clarification David. The reason I asked is I saw two different styles of knives and assumed(not a good thing to do)that the designation had something to do with their use.I have no idea what steel is used in the Yachtsman's knife I posted.

Proably AUS-8 or GIN-1. That's the steels Spyderco used for a lot of their early knives.

H1 Ladybugs.    :)   I carry the tan one every day.

David what are your thoughts on the ladybug?
I'm thinking of getting one as a gift (salt of course) but I'm wondering how useful they are; for me I don't think I'd go smaller then my dragonfly but I've never handled a ladybug

I love the Ladybug. I usually like bigger knives but there is something about the Ladybug. I get on with it great. The term little big knife fits it very good. I've got a bunch of them.

Thanks David - whats your opinion on serrated vs non serrated ? Both my salts (dragonfly and saver salt) are SE, their intended use is cutting rope, net, webbing etc, but i'm curious what you think of the PE vs SE ladybugs

I usually preferr plain edge knives. That being said I really like the SE Ladybug and keep one close by most the time.

...hoping to join this club soon. So many to choose from.

Can anyone chime in what they like about Salt 1 vs. Sat 2? The knives, not the strategic ballistic missile agreements.

That's a cool one RayS. I thought the Yachtsman was a myth, or that there were only prototypes or something?

I prefer the Salt I over the second model for one main thing: the clip  :ahhh

The original one has a standard barrel bolt clip (instead of three clips fixing it to the handle) which can be unscrewed with any flathead, a coin, or other objects, whereas the new one has to be removed using a torx screwdriver to unscrew the 3 screws,  :P
much more complicated

I liked unscrewing or changing/wapping the old clips at the beach with just my SAK or a coin  :dunno:, also for modding, painting and cleaning

SAKs: Bantam, Executive, Ambassador, Minichamp, Classic Alox, Champion, Farmer, Explorer, Swisschamp, Golf Tool, Wenger Champ, EVO 52, Pocket Tool Chest

this post by Glockfan exemplifies the clip issue I was talking about  :hatsoff:

https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,78997.150.html

you can't do that to a new Salt 2
