SOG Power Access Deluxe sheath problems

So, I have finally become sufficiently disgusted with the Velcro on the sheath to start doing something about it. It turns out the loopy part on the sheath body is mostly to blame. This no longer holds on to anything, least of all the hooky part. So I've started to cut it away, but unfortunately some of the seams used for holding the Velcro to the sheath body have other functions. So I'll have to redo these. By hand, since I have no access to a sewing machine and the sewing machine would have no access to the inside of the sheath body anyway. I have access to reasonable quality Velcro. However, this is adhesive, and therefore slightly hostile to needles - the latter tend to stick. In addition, the material is pretty tough and extremely hard to get through with a needle driven by hand. Seeing as I'll have to zigzag through the material, this looks quite the daunting mission.

Any ideas that might help? If I become even slightly more disgusted I might be tempted to throw the sheath away.

More and more, with time and experience, I've become a fan of leather.

With hard use, even the best nylon can become frayed. Leather, with a bit of care, seems more durable.

The down side of leather is that it dries slowly if it gets soaked.

Still, I'd go with a leather sheath.

Don'tforget that if nyloion gets soaked it will also absorb the moisture and water, possibly leading to mold growing in it (especially if the soaking is repeated and the sheath left wet) 

Also, Velcro has to be regularyl cleaned of lint, dust and sticky stuff, and is noisy. 
The easiest alternative would be to find a good snap button leather sheath or nylon sheath that works for this tool, there are dozens out there

Leather is the nicest option of course, but leather sheaths tend to become a bit bulky depending on design. Skinnier options would suit me better....  err... skinny? Why didn't I think of that?

Of course... the Skinth Shield XL! Fits perfectly with room in the side pockets. I'll just have to order another one 

Or does anyone have a good, not too bulky alternative in leather? It must be able to hold the bit set holder and optionally a LED light.

Thanks, yes these are very nice. I think I might go for the MUT version of the Shield though, with the loadout below the XL is a little bit tight and the flap doesn't close without applying a lot of pressure on it.
